This is the first footage I've seen focusing on the single player storyline since the audio-only teaser.  I think it looks awesome.  It will be interesting to see how Washington DC gets pummeled.

I hope there isn't as much screaming blood in this game as they let on. That would get very annoying.

You're fighting in an unnamed middle east country because we're too afraid to say Iraq, you're also tasked with fighting the Russians but technically its not Russia because they are ultra-nationalist Russian terrorists so we are technically not offending the Russians either.   By focusing the story on what seems to be the downfall of a major US city and doing it in a semi-real world setting is rather cutting edge than any of the pussy stuff thats been done. Terrorists are not from no name countries, the USA is not invincible, and Russia will in all likelihood be our enemy again. I think games need to stop living in fantasy land where not offending someone is more important then being realistic or factual or at least having damn good storytelling. "

If this game is really about playing other countries against the Untied States, the great. I'm not anti-American, but I know America is not perfect, and does start a lot of its wars and create a lot of its enemies. If the story is what people say, then good for infinity ward for daring to think outside the box. I was tired of the YOOOO JOEEEE! type of story based shooters.

I, personally, love the direction this series is taking. Excitement is far more important than realism, for a video game at least. Like @Ket87: said, do you really remember CoD4's story? It's possible to make a fun game that's also accurate, but Infinity Ward hasn't quite been able to pull it off, so I couldn't be happier that they're dropping the realism in favor of what they're best at, entertainment. And I bet most of this so-called "controversy" could have been avoided by creating a whole new "Hollywood action" series, but it seems like they've all but done that by practically dropping the Call of Duty branding.
 
And I have to say, I'm an American, and upon my first viewing my mind didn't detect even the slightest hint of controversial content in this trailer. This is just another example of how the majority of people in this country really make me ashamed and embarrassed to be a resident of it. American's are offended by everything! See: Lady Gaga SNL. Ugh, this country frustrates me, but at least we have Netflix right? =P

Any American in here who is loosing there mind over this, really get over your self. We have been blowing up the entire world in movies and video games for years! i'm glad someone is making a game that takes place in our home country. cuz that sounds exciting as hell (only in a video game of course) I say, let Black Hawk Helicopters lay ruined in the streets of NYC, Let the White House burn to the ground as long as it makes for a compelling drama. im in all the way!

I will love to see how troops getting on US soil and GARRISONING THE FUCKING WHITEHOUSE can be explained within the very -based-on-reality setting the call of duty series has.

While I like taking the story to American soil it seems a little over the top.  The White House  in ruins and dead soldiers everywhere?   It is either some sort of nuclear war or a complete departure from the world as we know it.   (I know it’s a video game, but CoD always seemed planted in reality IMO)

LOL!  I love the Fallout references.  Washington D.C. in ruins always gives you that OMG factor.  I guess thats why Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games.  Looks like they are looking to send a message with this game.  This game looks absolutely amazing!  Buying it at launch without a doubt.  
 
I can definitely see that White House area a multiplayer level.  

The marketing for this game has been astonishing.
