Well I wish them luck at the very least

Looking forward to seeing how WB Games handles The Lord of the Rings. I think they have the visuals down.
I wonder what kind of game it will be. Judging from just the video, it looks like a beat'em up.

Alritey then!

Posted by Daftasabat

Please be great...please be great...please be great

Posted by Tordah

I really wish this will be good.

Posted by Meowshi

I wouldn't really describe the Lord of the Rings books as "dark and gritty".  Sometimes it felt like Tolkien was masturbating when describing just how beautiful a single leaf in the Elven forest was.

I need a scarf to conduct this interview!

Great... another LOTR game, just what I always wanted...

Posted by TzarStefan

A good Lord of the rings game should be like Diablo/Elderscrolls rpg, not this crap...

Posted by TaliciaDragonsong

I so hope this game is good, or at least better then Conquest, which isn't hard.

I just want to murder stuff co op :(

@Meowshi: Well the orcs and Uruk-hai were pretty damn dark and gritty.
Posted by Agent47
@Soap: I sense...sarcasm?Nahhh you sound too genuine.Or do you?

War in the North sounds like a fighting game that takes place in Nolan North's mind and all the characters are, of course, ones that were voiced by him.

 my thoughts exactly

As long as we're not playing as the 'iconic' characters, this could be interesting! Tolkien's work deserves proper games.

Posted by Einherjar

I'm sorry to burst someone's bubble, but this game is for a fact gonna suck. Flame me if you want, but just wait and see.

I thought this was Diablo-like?  Snowblind made Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath for PS2.  Both are co-op Diablo/loot games.  I thought that's what this was.

I'm hoping this will be good. please please be good.

Absolutely.
By the way, the game description says multiplayer action RPG... Does anybody know if there'll be a SP campaign or is it just MP or co-op?

Growing up reading Tolkien, I always looked at the edges of the map, and dreamed (Rhun, I wish he wrote more about Rhun). The same with things only briefly mentioned. So on the one hand, I love to see this sort of "unfinished tale". On the other, there's something that just feels weird with the things other people make up for the world (what is the etymology of their "Agundar" villain?).

At least they are sticking with what are legitimate Tolkien locations. Carn Dum was one of thos places I wondered about. I kind of wish this was about the war that brought the fall of Arnor, and Angband, and Gil-Galad made his prophecy, though. (Gil-Galad, another hinted at, in that sad poem, that I wish the story told more about.) There are so many real heros and villains Tolkien only hinted at.

Man, I'm such a nerd. :)

You know WB games, you OWN an MMO set in this exact conflict already. You can't really say people haven't talked about it...

Posted by Einherjan

I want this game engine in LOTRO.

Posted by Tennmuerti

True to the Tolkien lore?

LMAO

Let me point you please to the first trailer with a mage pulling lighning out of his ass and throwing down magic shields.

Fuck you.

Posted by XFastfireX

Wow, the environments sure look impressive here.

They claim it to take place solely in the north, yet In the first cinematic trailer, I distinctly remember seeing Minas Tirith... I do hope they include some more iconic locations from the movies at various points, just to help with continuity.

Posted by doe3879

when the hell did this kinda of trailer became popular? or was it ever
I mean who the hell wants to watch some random developers hyping their games with words like "Epic!" and "Emergence"
other then the people who are already huge fan of whatever is it that their showing

God, this could be fucking awesome! Please be awesome! PLEASE!

I'm ready for more LOTR!

Posted by EndlessMike

Doesn't look like it's going to satisfy my Tolkein nerdiry by how they were talking but if the gameplay is fun I'd be interested.

Posted by HarrySound

10 years on and they're still making poor games on the name :(

"you've seen middle earth before. but you've never seen OUR middle earth!"

herp derp

Posted by MarkDarkness

Well, this looks like the best thing that has ever been produced for the franchise, so let's keep hope up.

@thebigJ_A: Sounds like you need to read the Silmarillion and his other appendix-like lesser works.   I guarantee you'll learn more about those mostly deserted, northern regions than you will in this game.

This whole enterprise is just an attempt to fit a square peg in a round hole, and they're trying to get away with it by making the round hole fuzzy and indistinct by choosing a part of Middle Earth that isn't discussed in the Lord of the Rings.  The "Elf a man, and a dwarf" thing is the worst part of it.  There aren't Elf/man/dwarf teams running around everywhere, WB!"

For the record, I expect the best LotR game would be more adventure than action, though more action than a point-and-click, of course.

Looks like a fun game :)

Posted by Wuddel

I really wish this game to be good, but I very much doubt it. The only good games coming out of the movie license were the two RTS-games.

Posted by cwdawg1224

Did they interview that woman on her way to a LARPing event?

Posted by datarez
@thebigJ_A:  I'm totally with you.

Man finally Snowblind back at it. I loved their PS2 hack'n slash games. I guess they didn't sell well? Everyone I knew loved them. Why has it been so long?
Posted by CowboyBebopper

I'm holding out hope that this will be good but for some reason whenever I see the world they've created I cannot help but think it looks...lacking. I don't know, I'll play just about anything with a LOTR license. As long as it is better than Conquest i think we'll be alright.

Posted by mewarmo990

I really want this game to be good given Snowblind's past work, but I'll reserve judgment until some sort of demo comes out.

Do you really believe that? The two Battle For Middle Earth games, and BFME two's expansion as well, were excellent games.

Anyway @Everyoneingeneral: I'm hoping and willing this game to be just what I'm hoping it'll be, a n upgraded, up-to-date version of Bladur's Gate: Dark Alliance.
With a few side paths/quests along the way, instead of a single path all the way through.
Posted by amomjc

Bravo Snowblind, this game looks great.

Posted by Tober

I'll give this game a chance. Looks good at least. That's a start.

Plenty of people give a fuck, like those that like the Tolkien universe setting.
Putting mages on every corner degrades it closer to a standard fantasy like every other game out there.

"It's a videogame" - is not a catch all excuse, for shitty generic shit
