These Lords of Shadow 2 Developers Are Probably Vampires

Anyone else run into an age-gate on this? Never seen one before on GB. I have a premium account if it matters...

Vinny better be the one playing in the quicklook of this whenever they get their hands on it or GB dun fucked up.

@lazyaza: Probably will because he will be the only one who has any interest in playing it among the GB staff, That is why I like Vinny because he likes certain games the others don't like Dark Souls and Lords of Shadow although Brad might actually start getting into the former soon enough hopefully.

Man, I hope they bring back the some musical elements of the old castlevania series. The OST from the first LOS game was too Lord of the rings for me.

I just started playing the first one, and I really like the style and difficulty of this game (playing on hard). Forcing me to block and dogde often is something I appreciate.
The only thing I think they can do better are less quick time events and maybe a bit camera angle on certain climbing sections.

It's hard to imagine the scenario that would cause that QL not to be piloted by him. Even if he were, god forbid, sick as a dog that week or out on assignment or something, I feel like his personal connection (coupled with everyone else's vocal lack of interest) would cause them to hold off on doing it without him.

God, please let this game actually have a steady framerate, because the last one sure was shit.

I played the demo for LoS2 (which I got for buying Mirror of Fate HD, I guess) and there's an option to turn QTEs off completely, so when you quick-kill a guy there's no timed button press and when you have to rip open a door, or whatever, you don't have to mash a button like an asshole. I liked it better. You also have full camera control.

That's why he says " I am the dragon, Dracul." Somehow, his reputation and name among the people becomes that of "Dracula."

@heatdrive88: LoS2 demo on PS3 ran at 30 or so like LoS1 does, so there's that.

LoS1 on PC runs great. I'd imagine that LoS2 on PC will be the same.

Gaahhh the freaking nonstop "moving" or "emotional" or whatever generic LOTR-esque soundtrack actually ended up making me hate playing the game with sound at all. Music makes all the difference.

I just finished LoS for the first time on PC a couple of days ago and I'm glad I waited as it runs amazingly well on PC. Solid 60 the whole time and it looks great with advanced graphic options!

The Lords of Shadow reboot of Castlevania is not my favorite, but what I you gonna do? Keep putting out those 2D games forever?

Personally I'd have liked a more fantastic and ridiculous take on it, like a musou game with the characters from Castlevania Judgment, but I realize that might not have a broad appeal in the west.

Developer diaries are terrible but I'm genuinely excited for this game. The first one started weak but had a really strong finish. I'm kinda looking forward to some arbitrary environmental puzzles and wicked-sick whip combat as Dracula. I mean that music box from the first game? Shiiiiiit.

IMO, the first Lords of Shadow was a classic, and would have stood out if GOW and DMC didn't come out before hand. Looking forward to Lords 2 and Mirror of Fate if they bring both to the PC.

Lords of Shadow is one of my favourite games of the generation. Yeah, it has its share of jank, and I can't speak about the lineage with any authority because I checked out of Castlevania after Symphony. But a lot of games this generation claimed 'epic' and 'adventure' and it was one of the few I felt delivered, and then some.

LoS 2 is, at this point, my most anticipated game next year.

I still really don't care for the character designs, but everything else looks promising.

It's even more jarring to me with the handheld game they made. It's the perfect excuse for some butt-rock but nope. It's a shame because the OST in the older games are typically fucking great.

I have a strong feeling we'll be getting more of the LOTR type music with this one, too.

I mostly agree with this, after watching Vinny on Unprofessional Friday, and the trailers for this one. I myself have zero interest in playing it, but I sure hope Vinny does. It really seems to have a sense of itself, big in grandeur and dramatics. Very story oriented, whether it is coherent or less than.

Is it me or am I the only one that's confused by the ending of Lords of Shadow. They never actually F****ing explain how he became a vampire in that last scene? Was it the mask that he picked up at the end?

I never played the previous Castlevania games so maybe that's part of the problem.
They gotta leave some of it open for the sequel I guess.

@dragonninja789: It's funny because while I was playing through it I totally expected that the mask would turn him into Dracula in the end. The earlier Castlevania games (that story-wise isn't connected to this reboot at all aside from some weird, almost out of place, references) had this big thing with Dracula's power being the power of dominance that gave him dominion over all monsters. I figured then that after Gabriel had taken the power of the werewolves, vampires and death and united them, that it would make him into Dracula in a similar way, as the king of all monsters.

Nope, the truth is that it's completely out of nowhere because it happens between the end of the game and the epilogue. It's shown in the 2 DLC's that were released. If you want to go through and see it for yourself then the PC version will probably go on sale on steam at some point, might have to play through the entire game again though, not sure. There's also Youtube.

If you don't care and just want to know Laura, the child vampire, lets gabriel drink her blood and become a vampire so he can stop some ancient, forgotten, evil (doing this kills her so she's not showing up for the sequel, just fyi). Gabriel fights the evil monster thing and kills it, absorbing it's power which turns his hair all white and stuff, makes him look a bit like he did in the epilogue.This detail is kinda dumb because it felt like they wanted to bring the whole thing full circle, but it becomes an inconsistency because he's clearly back to his young-ish self for parts in this second game that take place before the epilogue.

@clumsyninja1: Guess it was Destiny that got him to that point. The Universe is full of stuff like that, but they take time and you can't Rush them.

They could always be vampires pretending to be people pretending to be vampires.
