There are about 2 people complaining about this trailer and 200 people complaining about people complaining about the trailer. Also I think what offends most people is how lazy, unimaginative and humourless sexy killer nuns are not how offensive it is.

This whole thread is just a din of morons complaining about hand wringers and feminists who aren't really there.

Let's be friends

To all you hipster morons who are getting worked up about there being oversexualized assassins in the game - did you ever fucking play the other games? In case you missed the part where the games are full of fetish parties, hookers, whores and assassin-ladies preying on your sexuality, that's exactly the formula.

Jesus.

You're 100% correct, but the giantbomb crew have decided to make their stand here for some reason, and everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon.

It happens all the time with tonnes of issues, just a pity Hitman has gotten this bad press.

Bravo! Anyone that wants to claim that the Hitman universe was every grounded and not full of nonsense needs to go back and play the older games or a take breather from the over-analyzing a series that has always been a bit cheeky and silly.

If you were stupid enough to have seen all the gameplay footage leading up to that nuns trailer and then decided "they blew it they ruined the franchise those sexist pigs!" then you probably shouldn't even be playing the game. In previous iterations there was a mission where you infiltrate a dominatrix party in a meat packing plant/slaughter house; where you kill people in big bird outfits; where you're dressed up as a clown or santa clause. The fact that the GB crew decided to suddenly regress into babbling game press at site of that nuns trailer was even more confounding considering how usually grounded and separated from the media bullshit the site usually is. If you watched your favorite assassin video game character fuck up a bunch of psychos dressed up as warrior nuns in beautifully lavish CG and thought anything other than "fuck yah that was cool" then maybe you're starting to get a little too jaded with videogames and need a break.

The thing was that all those scenarios in other HItman games were kind of funny and played for humour, wheras this just looks dull and unimaginative. Its the reason Saints Row The Third gets away with racy stuff because it does it with humour. Nothing about that previous trailer was amusing or satirical - it was just boorish and crude - that's the problem.

You can get away with most things if you do them with a wink or a bit of humour.

The golden rule is to stay within the boundaries of the universe when adding new elements to it. That goes for anything within entertainment.

As a fan of the series, I can't say that I can remember many funny moments happening. Most of the stuff, unconventional dress code, eccentric characters and so on, aren't that far of a stretch from the real world. You expect weird personalities in a fetish club, for example.

@Humanity said:

@leebmx: It was dumb senseless action and I'm all for that. Those assassin nuns looked cool. There were no tits hanging out or things of such nature. Just some weirdos in latex trying to kill 47. Kinda hearkens back to the days of games like the original Metal Gear Solid where each boss character had some weird twist to them in an otherwise regular world setting. Psycho Mantis, Vulcan Raven all kinda cool bosses with some weird quirk. Chicks in spandex going for some nun look - hey man thats cool I'll enjoy killing them one by one and then posing their bodies all funny because thats what I like to do in my Hitman games.

You didn't hear many complaints about the weird characters in Metal Gear Solid because it's part of the brand. Kojima is known to have his pervy moments, he is known for coming up with weird-ass personalities.

He is also known for writing himself into a corner, but that's another story.

Are they actually going to be in the game in fetish nun gear?  The actual trailer seems to suggest all except one are dead.

Also this is Alex.  Making dumb comments like this in the titles of everything he puts out is kind of his schtick.  If you take that as GB suddenly taking a stand against Hitman for feminism, you're kind of missing the point, both within and without the trailers.

So did they hire a narrator with a British accent and tell her to sound like a computer text-to-speech program? What dialect is she trying to use in this trailer? Whatever, motion graphic novels, latex nun assassins, horrible new composer and new 47 v/o, BLOOM, it's not like I'm gonna buy this anyway. Off to replay Blood Money and think happy thoughts.

Can't say I care. It's hardly a big deal. The only difference here is that the silly bullshit in the game is being openly marketed, unlike in the past games. So now people are throwing a hissyfit over it.

The only shitty thing about this is the pre-order bonus at the end. Y'all need to relax.

Great, this is a central feature of the game. Most nuns don't even dress like that any more. Really sad to see this is the direction IO has decided to take the game in.

Hitman has always been pretty camp. Chicken suits, sex club shark tanks and operatic on stage death is the Hitman I know and love. Battle-nuns seem tonally consistent.

Why is everyone so up in arms about this? How is it any different than MGS4's BB Corps?

It's not. It was also retarded.

What is going on with this game? It doesn't sound like a Hitman game at all. They've always been very serious and refined in terms of content and aesthetic. Apparently taking the series out in to left field this time around.

@ModerateViolence: Indeed. Hitman has always had its share of T&A. Why it took this long for people to have a problem with it... who knows?

Let's wait and see how it is incorporated into the game before we judge, eh?

I'm assuming the surviving nun is probably in the game, but where does it say any of the others are in the game?

Anyways could be an awesome mission if you are trying to stealthily take out a target, while the surviving nun is stalking you. I'm willing to look at the bright side of this.

@The_tato: We will probably have the chance to play through that portion as the "Saints" were sent to terminate 47. Additionally, I don't see why everyone is up in arms about the nuns, I'm Catholic and they look pretty hot for pixelated babes. Besides, the story focuses on 47 going "rogue" and being tracked by others employed by the ICA. The "Saints" just happen to be relatively attractive and deadly women who like to dress as nuns.
