Video Game Afternoon: Hot as Heck Edition: Part 01

It was a zillion degrees and everyone else went to PAX, so Brad decided to cool out with some games.

Seeing Brad play Mario + Rabbids really surfaced a lot of issues that I didn't notice when playing it myself. Leading up to the mid-boss, Brad made several choices that should have resulted in a death. At one point, two (maybe three?) separate enemies chose to attack a character in 50% cover with nearly full health instead of a critically injured character with 0% cover on whom they had line of sight. He also should have lost at least one character to the mid-boss, but he got some pretty convenient crits. Talk about training wheels.

I didn't really experience this while playing those levels myself, though. I was making (what I reasoned out to be) the correct choices but still had to take second passes at some levels. I never caught these kinds of breaks. This stuck out to me as being quite odd.

@elmorales94: I definitely noticed and caught these breaks in the early game but I think it is on purpose. At that point in the game all you can really do is shoot and move and the maps are small enough that the enemy rabbids could almost always get a dash+flank no matter where you are at if they were most efficient. I doubt even the best strategist could make it through multiple levels of that without healing.

@brad Thanks for doing this, looking forward to seeing how someone else plays Rabbids + Mario. How do you stream from the Switch?

There's already been a ton of these comments, but I'm going to go there anyway. Y'all should spend a summer in Kyoto: hot and humid, but central AC is not a thing at all. If you're lucky, you'll have a corner blower that offers mild relief, but because electricity is so expensive, there's almost never any insulation, and they're much less efficient, you're pretty limited in how much you can use them. Most people keep the AC at around 27-28C (80-83f).

All that being said, I think I somehow grew used to it, as much as I know it sucks.

thanks Brad!

Phantom Trigger looks cool but also kinda looks to be taking a lot from HLD's look, anyone who's played both got some insight if it's worth a shot?
