man I was really expecting to hear more about "Wild" this time. It's been two years since we last heard about it right? Is Beyond Good and Evil 2 must be keeping Michel Ancel busy.

Giant Bomb sure knows French.

I'm sure the rest of the conference is great and all but...

SPELUNKY 2

Spelunky 2 was the only highlight, ps4 and steam first sadly for me. Would like to have it on my one x but guess I gotta wait :-(

Guacamelee 2 is the only thing here I care about.

Spider-Man still refuses to excite me in any way, which sucks for a game about my favorite superhero.

Vita can't run Spelunky 2.

Excited to see more of that Sucker Punch game, i really dig that studio.

Also that Hong Kong Massacre thing is top down Stranglehold.

I'll buy it on PS4, but when it comes to Switch I'll definitely buy it again.

It's probably good to know that Tennis World Tour is made by the people who made the Top Spin games, and it's basically what they wanted Top Spin 5 to be. I'm pretty excited, not sure about the publisher though (Bigben Interactive)..

mics are SUPERHOT in this one. borderline unwatchable. wanted to see brad and jeff's reaction to spelunky 2.

I mean, its implied but maybe he's still alive. Its just maybe he never returned home and you might need to find him in Spelunky 2.

If we're talking about bad dads, yikes at that abusive dad portrayal in Detroit.

I really loved this conference. The hosts were likable, and the games were pretty darn great for a kinda throwaway show.

As someone who speaks a modicum of French, the hard T in "fondant" was killing me.

@nomtank: I'm sad and a little surprised Speluny hasn't made it to Switch yet. Oh well, I have Stardew Valley as a timesink I haven't sunk enough time into yet.

There were some pretty cool games in this conference, but I agree with Jeff. This is definitely on some soundstage in Canada.

@stordoff: As someone that speaks no French at all, but does speak English a fair bit, pronouncing it as fon-DANT instead of FON-dant was killing me.

Jeff what was your drink??

@dr_insane: I think some were taking TLOU2 trailer a little too roughly, but it did seem a little hardcore for hardcore's sake. I know they're bleak games in general but maybe be a little more subtle or don't lay it on so thick.

Then again, it didn't have much,on your average episode/issue of TWD...

I hate that hat.

My two main thoughts:

1: The trailer for Detroit was really surprising because a small story like what they showed would be a lot more interesting than what they usually have in their games. Then I realized that what was shown is probably a very small part of game... and also who's making it.

2: God of War has looked really interesting up to this point and this trailer made me do a complete 180. I really, really don't need a kid talking constantly and spitting out one liners during combat.

Now to watch this so I know how I should feel about it! /s

Never seen Jeff get as emotional as seeing Spelunky Dad fade out.

That Onrush game is apparently being made by the ex-Motorstorm devs who Codemasters picked up after the fallout of Driveclub. Super excited for that one.

@boiter: I think what's hurting Sony is how many times we're seeing the same games with vague/no release date. Granted, this is only 5ish months since E3 but still no concrete dates.

@mikelemmer: well, video game characters generally don't display any telltale signs of being *alive* (eating for nutrition, sleeping, pooping, breathing, etc) so it can be jarring if one - especially a highly cartoon-ized one - suddenly goes "Oh NOW I'm mortal".

It's the same reason talking about middle-aged Bart Simpson freaks everyone out, despite the fact he's been 8 years old for the last 20+ years.

So the video game news they reference in the beginning is Spelunky 2?

I just don't get the Spelunky love. I didn't find that game fun at all. Oh well, glad everyone else is so excited. (Though not looking forward to how bored I'm going to be of every site running daily Spelunky 2 videos for 6 months.)

Grammarly is complete garbage if you have half a clue on how to write. It works for companies that just barf out blog posts to goose Google but it always gives you the most robotic sounding and poorly constructed trash. But those kind of social media companies certainly aren't looking for quality so whatevs. They aren't going to spend the money on capable writers/editors anyway. Just don't use it for any other purpose, please.

As a PSA to people in the future the events that Brad and Jeff are referring to is the indictment of Manafort and some other Trump campaign staff from the Mueller investigations. Either something that brought him down by the time you read this or something that everyone forgot about entirely by the time you read this!!

I only played like 30 minutes of spelunky, but i was kinda sad seeing spelunky guy die :-(

The trailer for Detroit made me a lot more interested in that game now.

Ahh that preshow desk.. This might all sound a bit too harsh, but it's one of my petpeeves. I understand if other people thought it was totally fine.

Like i get it, you want to have a casual host + some extra bodies to have a conversation with. Make it feel like you're watching this thing together with some fun people. Basically what we do with Giantbomb. But why pretend like the audience cares about these playstation employees? Am i missing some weekly show where we get to know these people? Why act like the audience is in the know with injokes about 'Dave' ? Why act like every Playstation game is a top favorite for one of the hosts?

Bright spot was the guy on the right side of the panel, Russel. Guy did a good job giving additional information about the games and placing them next to existing games to give you a better understanding of what happens. Never needed to resort to empty 'i love this game so much, really guys' type of comments. Just simple small clarifying comments to get a better understanding of the trailers we've seen.

Like are we really supposed to believe that the lady gets goosebumps from looking at a moderately pretty puzzle platformer or that Tennis & Resident Evil makes the bearded guy's heart flutter? Why even let the audience be in the position where they have to guess whether they really love a certain thing vs them acting like they love a thing. The GB guys even mentioned that dissonance. It's the vibe that it gives when paid employees keep professing their love for all things Playstation. Why not present this thing a bit more like Russel did. Tell some little things about the game, point out the strong points, place them next to existing games, talk a bit about the studio's previous work. Stuff like that would be way more helpful and lead to less of these 'haha Playstation employees amirite' moments.
