The setting has changed, the story has changed, the character has fundamentally change, it's highly likely the gameplay mechanics have change. I see very little reason why the developers wouldn't want to start a brand new gaming franchise, except for the fact they can rope in all the old Max Payne players with the title.

This looks great it's cool to hear that voice and music again I don't give a damn that he shaved his head I can't wait to play this I played both 1 and 2 so many times I love this series.

The music gave me chills, very nostalgic.

My only gripe from the the trailer footage was that not every single sentence spoken was a metaphor. That was part of the charm of Max Payne 2 for me.

The music got to me in a good way and I accepted Rockstar Vancouver taking over the franchise because I love Bully but this trailer didn't quite appeal to me as much as I was hoping. I mean it looks like it will be good and the setting is an interesting change but there is something missing. Maybe I just need to see more bullet-time stuff (the press release says its in there).

This doesn't seem ver Max Payne (being someone who never actually played the first two) but it definitely seems like a game that I'm interested in.

Never played a Max Payne game. For some reason I thought it had supernatural elements to it, or some sort of drug...if that's the case, I'm suddenly very interested in this.

A false start, this trailer wasn't the beginning.
It was past the point of no return, the fatal choice already made, and it would get worse before the end.

I really hope this game is good.

Max Payne 1 and 2 was a product of their time where the 3rd person shooter was innovative and Matrix effects was the hot stuff.

I think Max Payne 3 will need a bit more than just strong storytelling to carry it.

The music gave me chills but everything else seemed a bit meh. I think it's going to be a pretty good game as long as you acknowledge that it's from another studio.

This can't be Max Payne 3. I don't see anyone shooting while jumping in bullet time with a look on his face like he shit his pants.

Is Euphoria confirmed? That is the kind of thing a game like Max Payne really could use. I feel like that technology just gets better with each game. The first thing I ever did in GTA IV was to spend 10 minutes knocking people down stairs.

They actually tried to protect themselves, and their bodies didn't go ragdoll-limp the second I touched them. In Red Dead it was even better, the way they tried to stay on horses and react to where they got shot while simultaneously falling down from the shot.

My only worry is that they are going to take themselves too serious. That was always the part I loved about Max Payne that they had this very grim and dark tone, but it was super silly.

I don't see the big problem with his look...

If Batman shaved his head, dressed like Fred Durst and moved from Gotham to Acapulco, he wouldn't be Batman. The only resemblance this has with the original Max Payne is, well, the title. Sure, it may be a good game, but from what it's shown in the trailer, it looks more like Kane & Lynch than Max Payne. They could have called this Johnson Damage: Beard Cop and it would have the exact same effect.

Really liked the trailer, but I still can't see Max Payne ever shaving his head like that. Also, I do hope that in-game cutscenes doesn't mean they've done away with Graphic Novel storyboards. Those were fantastic. Plus, where's the film noir dialogue? I didn't hear many similes in there.

I assume you're referring to the fact that he looks like Walter White. I thought the exact same thing when he shaved his head.

I bet someone felt very smart coming up with that idea. And he is not even bald from baldness? So there never was a good reason for him to be bald? It's probably some non-sense like "You got to change your look Max because they know your face". And same kind of reasoning for the setting? Seriously? "Hey I got a job for you in fucking South America" is enouth of a reason for him to pack his shit, leave the country for what seems like an insane place in the middle of a jungle?! I actually was willing to give it a chance if there was a good justification for all of this, I even wanted to see more stories about old broken down people but this is nowhere near that. I wonder what game was this supposed to be before they slapped the Max Payne name on it.

All I needed to see what those familiar bullet trails as Max was diving and I was sold.

Well, in that case I'm all in.

Man physics and animation engins have went a long way. I think the Max Payne series best represents it. From the usual flat kills in the first one to the awesome, yet outrageous, Havok ragdolls of Max Payne 2. Now with the Bullet physics engine (I believe it's an open source software opposed to Havok) together with Euphoria's dynamic animation system, it might be really awesome for Max!

i call bullshit on this, i was a big fan of max payne the detective the murder mystery story with a super natural element. it was dark, cool , and a bold departure from the grand theft auto, also one of the games that helped define a genre. now it seems they are trying to compete with call of duty with the merc gone rogue story arc and the brooding character unsure of himself trying to leave his troubled past behind and the mock modern warfare 3 logo treatment. it may turn out to be a good game as most rockstar games of the last 4 years have been good but this is not what i expected....this is not my max payne.

I don't feel good about this game not taking place in NYC. Hopefully they can still make the whole Max Payne thing work without night time snowyness and skyscrapers and whatnot.

And that music... feels good man.

I don't care what anyone says, I could not be more excited about this game.

I just hope they focus on the story and not on the "We're in brazil using AK47's hur duuuur".

On another note, the originals are still really fun to play when you go back to them.

I'm actually interested in the setting, Sao Paulo is an underused setting that could offer some cool results. South America, in general, isn't used enough in games. Max's look, however, is a bummer.

I never thought of Alan as Max Payne.

It's hard to describe, but as a fan of the Max Payne series, I feel almost insulted by this video? I don't know.

I hope there's still some graphic novely presentation in the game. Glad that Max's voice is back, though. Also, the narration needs more ridiculous metaphors. :)

Super happy the original voice actor is back. James McAffrey + that theme. Not sure how they can match the pseudo-noir bent of the original games in a South American country, as none of this gameplay was really indicative of it.
