ye, this trailer honestly portrayed the game very well..... Still looking like a great game though, but if anyone buys the game based on this trailer they're probably gonna get disappointed.

Don't think I can handle being forced to wait 3 extra days just because I live in the UK. Fuck retail. I hope you die tomorrow. Same with dishonoured too :c

To me it sounds like they're trying to play 3 songs at once over the ambient battlescape.

Aw, I was hoping for a more direct homage to the original's intro...

Normally I know right away games I will like and games I will not - but I'm having an incredibly tough time on deciding whether to get this. I'm an old PC gamer, but XCOM is not one of the things I played. I'm also not the biggest turn based strategy guy. They only vaguely similar thing I played recently are the Kings Bounty games and I enjoyed them, but I also had to play on easy after getting frustrated on normal.

Played the demo and with it being like 90% guided tutorial I can't get any sense of whether I'll enjoy the full game. The notion that you can play the game for 10 hours and get into a state where you've made too many bad decisions and you pretty much have to restart does not sit well with me.

At the same time I'm very interested specifically because I'm tired of action games and ready for a different kind of game. Ordinarily I'd just wait for the game to go on sale, but the pre-order incentives seems decent, especially the free copy of Civ 5 (though I probably would never play it).

I haven't been up to speed on X-Com stuff but I'll give this a whirl sometime later this year.

I think the most unrealistic part of this trailer is that the humans aren't getting turned to paste through most of it.

And I Love that.

Between the demo and Quicklook EX, I am DYING to play this game.

I'm tremendously pumped for this game. Haven't bought a game on day 1 in quite a long time. It seems so far away :(

It looks like it's going to be decent. I hope this is a sign that some other developer will build a turn-based franchise from the ground up on the next gen of consoles, because while I love remakes, I'd love something new that isn't beholden to an old franchise. In the meanwhile, though, I imagine I'll be playing this all year if it actually delivers.

@chiablo: I was thinking the same thing, this looks identical to a Mass Effect commercial. Why not show the gameplay, least for a glimpse? Ha, I guess tactical stuff just doesn't look cool?

I feel like this game blew its advertising load early. They did so much promotion during the big live show and elsewhere about 3 weeks ago i was interested in the game. I feel the consumer hype was high back then but now many people have forgotten it was even coming out due to the delay between the big advertising push and the launch. Perhaps its just me....

Just pre-ordered on steam and got Civ 5 for free. Awesome.

It's almost misleading, to be honest.

Looking forward to this. Last time I can recall ever playing this type of isometric strategy game was Fallout Tactics.

Eh, if people buy a game based on cinematic trailers, then so be it. A game like this could be a bridge for people who like action games to try something more tactical anyway. But then maybe I'd just really like to see this do very well and pull more strategy rpgs on to consoles.

@Sweetz: It's ultimately your money and your choice, but I say go for it. If there was ever a pc genre game that can successfully attract people who are unfamiliar to these types, I'm willing to bet this is it.

Regarding your hesitation about a game you can lose 10 hours in: yeah, that can be frustrating, but keep in mind, this is exactly the type of game where you make your own story. It is not about a single scripted play-through to see all the levels and watch the set events unfold. This is about making choices and creating and customizing your own story. It may all fall apart before you get to the end, but then the next time you try, it can all unfold differently.

I can't wait for this game. Also, Dishonored comes out the same day. I will have pizza and beer on standby. "Commander Borracho, your squad is ready." I wonder if I can finish both games before work on Thursday? Probably not.

Also, is blue the new brown? After all the brown military shooters, it seems as if blue is trending. And is the NDA up for this game as it shows the game informer 9.5 out of 10 in the trailer? Probably not, as the review is not up on that site. I wonder how GI feels about their score being revealed in a trailer first?

And the award for most misleading trailer of the year goes tooo...

Then one day you'l be bored and think "eh I'll try this Civ thing and see what it's all about."

Next thing you know, you'll wonder where the last eight hours went.

I'll probably get this game if Dishonored doesn't pan out to be the greatest game out this year next week :P

This. I can't wait for this game and I've had it preordered for many months, but these trailers are misleading.

Did anybody else just get an ad for XCOM before watching the trailer for XCOM. XCOM got me from both ends, I feel violated.

Get this or Dishonored it's a tough call for me. I will probably just get both and blow through most of my fall game budget.

In that, at the end of it, you've seen every cinematic in the game but none of the gameplay.

Oh boy. Seeing that biotic soldier and knowing I can customize my troops is making me really want to pick this up. Also almost getting valkyria chronicles today because I was in the mood for some proper "fuck up and this dude is DEAD" turn based strategy also contributes. I think I'm totally gonna buy this on steam tomorrow. Dishonored was never much of a stand out to me, even if dark messiah was fun and the dude what designed city 17 and he combine is involved. I'll get that later.

You know, the length and the timing of the trailer really seems like it would have been better if they used a remix or remake of the original games intro theme.

Glad someone else felt the same way. Here I was hoping for some gameplay footage to confirm that it was in the same vein of the original, and as usual the people in advertising showed only the flashy bits, and removed the substance.

If only more turn-based, tactical games would get made. While the game looks great, I'd pay to support this game just in the hopes that it'd get a few more tactical games out there.
