Virtua Striker (バーチャストライカー in Japanese) is an arcade football/soccer sports game released by Sega in 1994. Originally developed by Sega AM2 and powered by the Sega Model 2B CRX arcade system, it was groundbreaking for its use of 3D polygon graphics for the first time in a football game, and its use of filtered texture-mapping for the first time in a 3D sports game. It was one of the first games to use filtered texture mapping, along with Sega's own Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter 2. It had a high level of detail for its time, extending to the flesh of the players. The game's success spawned the Virtua Striker series of football games.
