    Warframe is one of my most 'I should really get into this sometime' games.

    Is it something that works at all as a solo experience?

    @theht:

    Spoilers below:

    Long story short: Absolutely since the Second Dream in 2014! The Tenno or Operators are the children controlling the Warframes.

    Part of these Cinematic Quests (50 hours into the game) you unlock a quest called Second Dream are hit with the revelation of the Tenno awoke to their true-self from the "Second Dream"

    In the dream they believed actually the Warframes, but the Warframe and Tenno are actually separate entities.

    To describe it using other sci-fi tropes

    Warframe are the stands / Personas while you are the Tenno able to control the Warframes remotely with your mind.

    The Tenno or Operator like the NewTypes in Gundam and posses "psychic" like powers to project their minds into shells the Warframe.

    @efesell: While I am familiar with a few people that do play the game mostly solo. It is definitely a game where it is a lot of easier and more bang for your "free to play" buck if you play with at least a small group of friends.

    The game has reputation of a barrier to entry, if you are new and trying to get into the game as a new solo player you will be looking up wikis and guides to try to understand what to do. Having a friend to try to figure out with you or a someone who already knows the game can definitely help to overboard you to the game. With that said we have Giant Bomb Warframe PC Clan we try to help duders wrap their heads around the game.

    @rapid: neat! makes sense of how you're able to change out warframes willy-nilly. the stand/persona comparison in particular makes it sound real cool.

    @rapid: Thanks for that explanation. I've been playing this on and off for sometime and I always sort of assumed that only a part of a person is actually in the Warframe armor. Sort of how Raiden in Metal Gear is just his head and his spine. Sort of the same deal. Since there's no way the same person could be inside several types of armor or increasingly slim and non human shapes.
