Hidden gem
I am very rarely surprised by games anymore these days. This game was truly a surprise to me.
Wizard101 is a fun rpg like card-fighting game with a mmorpg vibe.
At first I was laughing when a friend recommended this "kids" game to me. But having trust in his game recommendation I decided to download and give it a try.
Surprisingly the game was very small download, utilizing the progressing download option, just like that used in Guild Wars. While you are passing the tutorial the other world loads. The character creation process starts on the website and continues in the game. Wizard101 offers a lot of things for you to learn and I am not even close to understanding all of the game mechanics and powers, but it seems like it is something I want to learn about. Unlike other games it is not required that I must learn everything right away and be overwhelmed by information. I can take things at my own pace.
Wizard101 gets all of the basic things right, that most of the other big budget and big download games don't. Simple user interface, good tutorial, simple and intuitive controls, easy to follow quest directions and interesting game play!
I have been long looking for a casual mmorpg-like game, similar to guild wars but with more strategy than "clicking here and there as fast as you can". And I think I have found such a game in Wizard101.
