Archery is the practice of propelling arrows with use of a bow. Throughout history, archery skills have been used in both hunting and warfare. Today, it is also a sport and recreational activity.
Poet and scholar, singer and narrator. A lover of wine, women and song, the bard is the iconic minstrel of the medieval world.
While usually presented as monsters to be slain, every now and then, characters get to ride dragons into battle instead.
Druids were pre-Christian priests in Celtic culture and feature prominently in Irish mythology. In games they are generally nature-based healers and spellcasters.
Elves are a race found in a lot of games based on a fantasy setting. They are recognizable by their elongated ears and often live much longer than humans. Some are even immortal. There are many variations of Elves.
Fletching the process by which aerodynamic arrows are crafted. This trade skill is often a chosen profession of rangers, rogues, and warriors. In games, the fletching usually includes the skill of crafting bows as well.
Foraging is the ability to effectively gather food and drink from ones surroundings. Rangers, druids, and elves often excel in this skill.
A Half Elf is the offspring of a human and an elf. In many cases, they are discriminated against by both humans and elves, which guides them to a nomadic life as bards, druids, or rangers.
The concept of affecting the universe through supernatural methods, breaking the fundamental laws of science.
The ability to see in the dark without mechanical means.
Characters controlled by the game for players to interact with, as opposed to player characters which are controlled by whomever is playing the game.
Pick Pocketing appears in many games as a way of obtaining information, items, or cash from people.
Piercing weapons are designed primarily for stabbing and puncturing to cause damage rather than slicing or cutting. Examples include knives, daggers, spears, lances, needles, shivs or improvised weapons such as ice picks.
Any character you can control in a game is a Player Character (PC), as opposed to a non-player character (NPC), which is a character that can only be controlled by the game.
Rangers are wise, cunning, masters in archery and have vast wisdom in the concept of nature.
A playable class in many roleplaying games. Rogues are also sometimes known as Thieves. The class in almost all these games center around their stealth capabilities.
Female characters who are designed with highly idealized figures and proportions, outfits that are revealing and/or form-fitting, and prone to ending up in completely over-the-top poses designed to show off their bodies.
Slashing weapons are designed to cut and slice rather than causing blunt trauma. Examples include swords, axes, claws, naginatas, or even whips.
Any practitioner of magic (wizard, sorcerer, mage, necromancer, etc.) who casts spells. Even unlearned scholars can throw a mean magic missile every now and then.
An aesthetic sub-genre of fantasy, focusing on brutal barbarians and arcane wizardly magic.
Throwing weapons include knives, shurikens, axes, darts or even explosives such as grenades and molotov cocktails.
Tracking is a skill or ability used by classes such as Rangers which allows the player to quickly locate an NPC.
Weapons designed to be wielded with both hands, typically due to their size in relation to the one wielding them. Examples include longswords, claymores, lances, scythes, and giant hammers among others.
An individual who specializes in armed combat.
