Where did the rechargeable battery packs Microsoft used to sell disappear to? I don't want another charging solution, just batteries! Whats the Giant Bomb community's 360 battery situation? Am I gonna end up going back to AAs?

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
Batteries?
Big ole pile of rechargeable AAs and a nice delta v charger. Been caught with my pants down a few times while playing the dreaded MW2 and having to run into the other room to get them but sometimes I'll just swap them over every 3 days anyway.
My charging cable or battery is fucked up and the cable has to be plugged in all the time. Wired Controllers ftw.
Been using Duracell Rechargable's since the PS2 days. They charge in 30 minutes and last pretty long. When I look at the Microsoft rechargeable and saw that it takes longer then an hour I laughed and said I would never buy that. Just get the Duracell Recharger, it comes with 4 double A's, and you'll be all set.
Rechargeable Ni-MH AA's and lots of em'
I have over 2 dozen of these half of which are solely for my game controllers.
These have lasted me over a year and I haven't noticed the charge lasting any less yet,
Actually I just ordered 2 dozen more.
Also I hate wired controllers and headsets, Fuck that shit

It's not a real wired controller, but the charging cable has to be plugged for it to work.
I have a couple of battery packs that I managed to score for free, but in addition to those I use rechargeable AAs. I invested in a very good battery charger a few years ago for $30 (including some batteries) and got about $30 worth of good rechargeables. They get used in all my devices (wireless keyboards and mice on multiple computers, controllers, remotes, etc.) and I haven't bought a single battery since. Before I had that I got a cheap energizer recharger and batteries. Those energizers are garbage and the charger was actually bad for batteries. The new charger can do single batteries and has actually brought some of those energizers back to life. Spend a little more cash and after a couple of years you'll be happy you did.
I've had about 3 of the official things now and everyone has lost it's charge after a few months.
Always wired now.
I love this charger from Nyko: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Charge-Base/dp/B0013064LA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1275498928&sr=8-1
It comes with two batteries and the charging station. Already lasted longer than the more expensive Xbox 360 Play'N'Charge kit (and cheaper too). The station is easy to just drop the controller into, easy to pick up when ready to play. They pretty much live there whenever I'm not using them, so they are always ready to go. Great purchase.
