Kinect Games Pricing!? WTF
first sony and microsoft fanboys dont like motion controls
then they praise motion controls cause sony and microsoft enter the motion war
now they are crying about motion controls based game prices
whats next?
" first sony and microsoft fanboys dont like motion controls then they praise motion controls cause sony and microsoft enter the motion war now they are crying about motion controls based game prices whats next? "Must say you make a great point, however, I am not a fanboy.
" Omg haha no shit... I KNOW THIS. But these aren't full-fledged games! Playing with some animals in a virtual petting zoo for $60? I mean cool idea, but everything is way too overpriced. "Why bitch about a game outside your interest?
I also feel it a scam to pay full price for Fifa where dudes are chasing a ball, but my opinion is indeed irrelevant.
" first sony and microsoft fanboys dont like motion controls then they praise motion controls cause sony and microsoft enter the motion war now they are crying about motion controls based game prices whats next? "The fuck? Kinectimals doesn't have online? The fuck is this shit?!
On the other hand, a lot of Sony and Microsoft fanboys haven't praised the motion control system-most of us Sony fanboys have been keeping the 'holy shit 3D sucks' people into check.

I think the argument with having 'full priced' games for Kinect is that:
- Technically these are still 'next generation' (if we can still use that term) games; the cost is higher on more graphically intense systems
- You can go down in the retail price, but you can't go up. If Kinectimals at $60 doesn't sell, you can bet that it'll be discounted to $50, then $40 and eventually be siphoned off into the budget range. And if it does sell at $60, Microsoft will be laughing all the way to the bank - they really would benefit from actually making some money off the Xbox 360.
I'm definitely not buying Kinect, or a 360, since im saving up for a PS3, but MAN... once they have dance central demos in Best Buys I'm gonna play til they make me leave. :D
Yep at this point I wouldn't be surprised if this thing bombs. Its just too pricey for some wii like experience. I'd rather they just concentrate on getting there developers to make good exclusives for them, instead of this whole motion control thing.
$60 does seem a little steep for the games they have shown, but I was never going to buy then in the first place.
People in this thread *are* being a little arse-ish. When you think about what was the draw to the Wii: that it included the best game available for it for "free" (in the US), and the fact that even separate Wii games are cheaper, $60 is steep. Though I agree that like every 360 game, the price will drop hard and fast. It should be easy enough finding it for $50 or under.
Dance Central looks like the only game that actually merits a $60 price tag. Looking at the other offerings I doubt that I would even pay $60 if the entire rest of the lineup was bundled together.
I'm not mad about the pricing scheme though. The faster and harder this thing fails, the better.
" I wouldn't buy any of the games shown at full price (may be with the exception of Dance central) but after watching all the E3 demos, seeing the games line up so far and hearing about the rumoured price, I don't have any interest in Kinect itself. "What?! How did they not sell you on that AWESOOOME Star Wars game?!?! Darth Vader!!!1!
/sarcasm
I'll be watching and waiting on this and the Move. If there's software that ultimately delivers, count me in. Until then, though, I'll remain skeptical.
I don't see a casual gaming family who doesn't already have a 360 getting Kinect. Buying an XBOX360 and a Kinect, as well as games will cost you at least $500 if you only get a few games. That's ridiculous.
Would probably be more understandable if Wii Sports didn't come with the system, but it's still BS if you ask me. I expected to see $50 at the most. Oh well, not like I was planning on buying it anyways.
" OH NO! Many middle aged women and 8 year old children will go bankrupt! "This... and you get cool points for the awesome The Warriors avatar
I am not outraged because I'm not going to buy a Kinect for any price. You couldn't pay me to keep that piece of shit.
I am humoured at the $60 price tag and will chortle with glee from the sidelines as MS continues their brilliant comedy of errors. Xbox is close becoming 3rd place globally again and based on how they're running things, 3rd place is too good for them. If OnLive manages to cuntpunt MS into fourth place, they really should just exit the market. That can't happen, right? hehehe
" @Axxol: HUZZAH! ...and by saying that all cool points are lost. "Yeah, you're sitting in the negatives now.
" first sony and microsoft fanboys dont like motion controls then they praise motion controls cause sony and microsoft enter the motion war now they are crying about motion controls based game prices whats next? "You know, I've seen very few Microsoft/Sony fanboys praise Kinect or Move.
A few have jumped on the bandwagon, yes, but the majority of them seem to have exactly the same sentiments as before and want them to fail, even for the console they own.
"So because they're not 'core games' they should be priced differently? "
Yes. Do you pay $60.00 for XBLA titles? Would you? Pricing should be based on both quality and quantity, not a standard. Video Games are not the same as movies, it's not a static experience. One game might be highly involved for twenty hours, another might be pushing two buttons for six hours. Would you consider them the same experience with the same dollar value? Saying everything should be priced based on standards and not content is just lazy.
