Hey guys, I just bought a new 360 S and I was wondering if the new system is only meant to be vertical? I see nowhere in the manual if it can go horizontal?

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
New 360 S position?
Mine's horizontal as we speak. Then again, I've been known to break rules...
jk, there's rubber feet on the sides for it. :P
Just a heads up. As I mentioned, mine's horizontal, and I'm constantly afraid that dirt, dust and hairs are going to get in there. It just seems more resistant to that stuff if it's upright. Probably not a big deal though.
" @JJWeatherman: Doesn't the upright position increase the risk of your discs being ruined? "Theoretically, yes. As long as you are the slightest bit careful though, not a big deal.
" @JJWeatherman: Doesn't the upright position increase the risk of your discs being ruined? "In the old model, yes. I haven't heard if the new one is better at not scratching discs. I keep mine (an older jasper unit) vertical but lay it horizontal when installing games or playing something that isn't installed.
" I have both my Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 S vertical. No scratched discs unless you're a bit clumsy and manage to make that 360 fall over. "Seriously. People are mad paranoid I guess. I don't know how the 360 caught such a bad rap.
The problem with some people using it Vertical is that they tend to be careless and push the disc tray in while the disc is rocking back and forth in the tray. That can cause scratches. If you aren't totally reckless in that regard, using it vertical is perfectly fine. I myself like it horizontal though.. I don't know, I'm just paranoid.
I guess I should also point out that I was paranoid as hell when I lived in San Francisco. I never kept my 360 vertical there because I was afraid there was going to be a small tremor while I was playing a game and it would cause my disc to get scratched to hell. I've had earthquakes open and slam cabinets, knock things off of shelves, etc. Scratching a disc didn't seem like that crazy of a thing to be worried about.
This immediately came to mind...

What kind of portable Xbox do you call this? They'll scratch all my disks! And the cables are only 3 feet long! Talk about inconvenient!
