So my 360 got the Red Ring of Death last weekend while I was playing Splinter Cell: Conviction Co-op. While this does free up some time for me to finally beat Final Fantasy XIII, it really bugs me that it decided to kick the bucket a week before the Halo: Reach beta. (This especially hurts due to the new quest based on Halo: Reach). So my question to you guys is how many times have you experienced a RROD, and which one did it at a time which was the most inconvenient for you?

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
So I just got another RROD...
Thanks, so far none of my friends have escaped the wrath of the red ring. Do you restrict the amount of time you play on your 360 in one period of time? Or are you just one of the lucky few?" Hearing these things always make me feel very lucky to have had my 360 for 3 years and have had no problems. Sorry to hear about yours though. "
" I'm on my 7th 360, 3 of them having RRODs "Wait... Your 7TH? Did the rest have E74 errors or something?
Im on my third and final, I don't see why me or anybody should keep on getting them if this continues. Its fucking retarded how this keeps happening probably 25% of all 360 sales are from people buying another consoles after theirs rrod's.
I opened up a 360 once, its fans are absolute shit. If MS spent an extra 5-10 bucks on fans for each machine there wouldn't even be a fraction of the RRODs. That money and more would be made up for the greatly decreased repair/replacement costs, along with increased purchases due to product confidence.
Wow, my 3rd (the 1st 2 were under warranty but 3rd's ran out in Feb.) Xbox just RRoDed last night while I was watching a DVD. Its working right now but I'm pretty sure its going to die some time soon. I don't know if I should trade it while it still works or not worry about it. If I trade now I can get an Xbox with HDMI but if I can hold on the rumored slim Xboxes might be out.

I had one RROD after two years, and ended up buying a replacement unit (Core SKU, about three months before they started selling the Arcade SKU). I've had that for about two and a half years with no issues so far, but then again, I only really play my 360 a couple of times a month, as I juggle my gaming time between it, the PS3, the Wii, and several other older consoles that I still own. Hell, my 360 will probably RROD on me next year at this rate.
I swear I put more time on my TurboGrafx-16 than I do my Xbox 360. :(
still on my first 360, the first generation to. I had to repair it once but that was for the disk tray and not the RRoD. I'm praying that it holds out until next generation, or another price drop.
I'm just one of the lucky few. I did have my 360 vertical for a long time. I just recently moved to and have it horizontal and have started noticing that it's taking a lot longer to load up at the start. So I'm moving back to where it was. As for time playing, I play a fuck ton of games. So I'm really just very lucky.
How about just now when I popped in SSFIV for the first time. Hung after one of the combo challenge things, and couldn't boot until it finally admitted it has a problem. RROD is kinda like the 12 steps that way, I guess.
Oh, and the first time was shortly after getting back from the parent's place for Christmas a few years back. Can't remember what I was playing at that point though.
" @Stray said:!st one had DREs out of the box and couldn't play a game for more than 20min without giving me the Please insert onto a 360 msg." I'm on my 7th 360, 3 of them having RRODs "Wait... Your 7TH? Did the rest have E74 errors or something? "
2nd one destroyed 2 discs in a row and was sent back
3rd RROD
4th A/V problems with the jack
5th and 6th RROD
Aside from general brokeness, this si one of the main reasons that I didn't get a 360 till last week.
I promise you, none of my other consoles will EVER red ring.
My 360 just got RRoD yesterday, which marks the fifth time this has happened. Is anyone familiar with Microsoft's current repair policy? I am thinking about just buying a new console but how can I be sure that I am getting a newer model that will not get RRoD?
i had 4 xbox 360s in just over 5 months. Then i got the one i have now which i have had for about 1 and a half years. Doesnt show any signs of giving up yet either :)
