Is anyone else having issues with the application just being super slow? For me navigating the app is a pain especially with TV shows where it doesn't show the episode name a lot of times, and if you let it sit idle for a minute it automatically resumes playing the current episode. The application is poorly designed, and it's really laggy... anyone else having these issues?

I love it. It has closed captions. Loads faster, the UI seems kinda laggy but not that much. It shows episode names, should come up after awhile

I liked the old UI better but it works fine. I cant really complain.
As a side note they made the Hulu app better (relative to the garbage it was before haha) so that's a plus (the old one was crap on XBOX, the PS3 one isn't bad though).

I don't know. It seems alright.

I still get more consistent bitrate from the 360 version of Netflix then the PS3 version.

I really like the new app. I watched a TV show on it last night with no problems. Love the addition of closed captions and being able to view additional info while watching something. If there's any serious bugs they'll be ironed out. XBL's probably just having some hiccups right now with the update.

I hate it. Aside from the cluttered, slow interface there are numerous other problems as well.

TV episodes (and movies) auto start and it's a mess. There is no way to select an episode to watch without an episode auto-starting first. Episode info stays on the screen for several seconds at the beginning of each episode, takes up a third of the screen and there is no way to dismiss it. It's awful, I don't see the benefit in this. The auto-starting replaces the buffering screen that Netflix used to display, which only ensures that the picture will look like garbage for the first 30 seconds of everything you watch. How is this an improvement?

At the end of TV episodes the picture minimizes into a small window so Netflix can prompt you to watch the next episode. What about shows that have story content during the credits? You are stuck watching that content in a tiny window. I can wait until the end of an episode to decide if I want to watch the next one or not. Also, it's not possible to restart an episode in progress from the beginning, you have to manually rewind like you are using a VCR. Welcome to the 90s, Netflix.

Anyone who uses party viewing will be disappointed as that feature has been removed completely. I don't understand who this update is for. I am going to stop watching Netflix on my 360 altogether and switch to the PS3 Netflix app (the interface of which I thought was terrible until this new interface taught a master's class in shitty UI design). Netflix in general is becoming a less valuable service with every change they make.

Yeah, what's with that? That's been a problem since they rolled that app out. I've got more than enough bandwidth to stream HD Netflix at all times, and the 360 version gives me no such problems.

I haven't had any trouble with lag, but--

Episodes auto-start (you can hit B to dismiss the information panel, by the way, or at least that's been working for me), there's no easy well to tell what scene you're on if you hit fast-forward or rewind, you can't browse episodes easily or without starting one up first, you have to hit start twice in order to pause (once to bring up the information panel, again to actually pause), and the absolute WORST transgression:

When I finish one episode of a series, I'm used to exiting out (before any "Next time, on..." information plays) and manually selecting the next episode. When I do this on the new app, it starts the next episode, the one I haven't seen yet, at the same timestamp as where I exited the last one. For someone who can't stand being spoiled by "next time, on..." clips, starting up at the END of a new episode is absolutely maddening. [ETA: Oh yes, and when this happens, there's no way to start the episode from the beginning, near as I can tell. I have to sit there and rewind through the whole thing, in which case I guess the whole 'no indication of what scene you're at' rewind thing is a feature, rather than a nuisance.]

...I do like having easy access to subtitles, but those are in no way worth the mess that everything else has become.

But seriously, the new Netflix app stinks out loud. All I wanted was voice searching on it like the "bing" stuff. All this other jazz is sluggish and often obscures what you're actually trying to get at.

I'll add my that into the ring. I don't like what they've done either. The TV show changes are ridiculous. The 'bloop/click' sounds are annoying, granted that's opinion but it seems a pointless change from the 'swoosh' before. The interface lags when scrolling up and down and holding the bumpers to go left and right takes much longer to get the to the end of a list than it did before.

I do appreciate the finally adding subtitles and 5.1 sound options though.

It's fucking terrible. Browsing TV shows is a nightmare and removing the ability to watch a movie or show in a party is completely asinine.

    I agree, puuuuure garbage.

It is a bit faster, but it's clunky and unresponsive. The old app was the best Netflix streaming app around.

    I second this.

I think the new Netflix sucks.  What they had was good
enough.  I could see the whole episodes list & I could
fly through my queue to look for movies.  It takes forever
    now to find anything.

I got rid of Netflix because I ran out of MST3K episodes to watch. So I have no idea what this new interface looks like. But it sounds like a pretty even mix of great/terrible.

    @sup909:

It seems like it's available for certain titles. I watched 13 Assassins yesterday and the 5.1 option is available.
