Hey guys. I have been researching this for a bit but am not clear on the last couple of pieces of the puzzle and I wonder if anyone here has answers.
Here's my Scenario. I have an xbox one with all my games as digital purchases. I am planning on buying my kids an xbox one as a joint present this Christmas. So, as this new console will get most use in the house, this is my plan.....
- I will set this second console up and download all my previous purchases.
- Set the new console as my 'home console'.
As I understand it. This allows all three of us to access all games without me (the game 'owner') being signed in. This leaves me with the original console downstairs that is no longer my 'home console'. It is around this console that I have questions. I can easily see a scenario where one of my sons wants to play upstairs and the other wants to play downstairs when I am not around.
I understand that I need to be signed in to the non home console to get access to my games, but....
- Does that mean that whoever is playing the non home console has to play as me?
- I already have a passcode set up for purchases so could I set my profile to sign in automatically on the non home console and the kids play the games on their own profile/saves etc?
- Assuming this does work, will I need to buy 3 live subscriptions rather than one (to enable live features if the boys are playing on the non home console)?
It's pretty obvious I was one of the few that were pretty fed up when MS changed their family sharing policy before launch!
Anyone have any practical experience with this??
