Yakuza 6 PC: Practice doesn't make perfect, but it's close. 0

Played at medium difficulty on a Ryzen 7 5800x, GeForce 1080, fairly fast SSD and 32gb of RAM. I have not yet befriended this cat that looks like my cat. Soon.I came into playing the Yakuza 6: Song of Life release on PC after trying to go back through the releases of 3-5 on PC, and very quickly learned a few things, as someone who came to the series at Yakuza 0. With the flood of Yakuza releases lately, I'm going to try to be a little succinct at what this game fleshes out over the others; the u...

More so than any other Yakuza game this one felt like I was revisiting old scenarios again. 3

Over the top crime drama is still on point. All of it is voiced now too. With this release being noted as the swan song for the character that has been the constant protagonist for over 10 years it has a lot to live up to. Kazuma Kiryu has once again been pulled into the world of the Yakuza. After getting thrown in jail again for 3 years he gets out and hopes to go back and take care of the orphanage he founded. Yet all is not well since Hakura vanished around the same time he was in jail. He i...

    Kiryu's Last Ride! 0

Yakuza 6 is the 7th instalment into the main Yakuza game series and the 12th title if you include the spin offs as of May 2018.Selling a combined 500,000 units in Japan and Asia, it was also the third best selling video game in the United Kingdom during its European debut week, making it the biggest launch for the series in the UK.However despite this it seemed that the Japanese players weren't overwhelmingly happy with this one, I didn't believe them, now I've experienced it for myself I can so...

A decent tech demo disguised as a full-fledged Yakuza title 0

All out of heat!At the time when I originally wrote this review I was busy juggling between playing Yakuza 6, Persona 5, Yakuza 0, Nioh and other games. Unlike prior games I've found it difficult to grant Yakuza 6 my utmost attention as I had initially planned. My fondness for playing Persona 5 making it even more harder but until recently I decided I wanted to finish Yakuza 6 before the former and do a review for both. If nothing else because P5 is a game I want to take my time with. The same w...

End of the dragon era 0

Yakuza 6: Song of Life represents the end of the Kiryu Kazuma arc. Kiryu, unlike other gaming mascots, matures and ages throughout the franchise. In Yakuza 0, he is a fresh-faced Yakuza grunt; In Yakuza 3, he is a civilian running an orphanage; And in Yakuza 6, he becomes a grandfather. Despite the numbered title, Yakuza 6 is an excellent starting point for newcomers, it starts from a relatively clean slate with a litany of new characters. The game also sports a brand new game engine that makes ...
