Yoichi Yamada has performed in Director and Assistant Director roles across a number of Nintendo games.

He started out in the EAD division as a technology chief. Yamada's first major effort came in creating and applying the FX Technology on the Super Famicom. Yamada then made the move into game design and got a major opportunity with Super Mario 64 as a course designer. Yamada then become very involved with Shigeru Miyamoto's The Legend of Zelda franchise and has now worked on almost every Zelda released since the NES days.

Dylan Cuthbert, the visionary behind the graphics in Star Fox on SNES, once referred to Yamada as the "most talented designer at EAD."
