Some of this stuff bothers me as it messes with my head canon of GB: For example, Spelunky not being on 2012 list but in my mind it might as well be their GOTY in how much they've gushed about it and made videos around it post-release.
Was fun to look back at my rankings alongside the crew. Here's my ranking by year with favorite game:
Had a ton of fun with Super Meat Boy Forever. I get the criticism and maybe part of it is I'm not attached to the original since I didn't enjoy it. But it's worth checking out despite the negative reviews. It's one of the most joyful, pure fun gaming experiences I had in 2020.
I'm playing Cyberpunk on a good PC, I've had some visual bugs but saying it is 'fucked up' is definitely overkill
There are too many fundamental problems that feel like game design from 2001, if not debug code that was never finished. When you start fighting in a crowd, people will spawn out if you look away and back. By design, cops will spawn directly behind you instead of naturally arriving. There are basic, core things to an open-world game that don't work. Probably still enough to enjoy for some but it's akin to watching a cam copy of a film instead of seeing it in theatre.
It's strange but I've started viewing Cyberpunk as an early access game I'm excited to play when it finally releases full version 18 months from now. Too bad I already bought on PS4. Hopefully I can refund it.
Is this the longest the spent on a game in the podcast? It's nearly half the show. Not complaining just interesting. Going to revisit once I made some progress in it.
Don't let Giant Bomb radicalize you, please listen, believe & trust your CDPR overlords that the day 1 patch is truly "a whole new game". Joking aside, I hope this is true. On the other hand, I grew up on big buggy games so eh.
