A adventure game that reminds me of early Tell Tale games

As implied by my title this game felt like it fell outta Tell tale's wheelhouse circa 2008. In almost every way other than adding in a combat mini game. But first let me mention the plot. Finn & Jake find a magical ticker tape machine that magically prints out mysteries that are happening in the land of Ooo. They decide to start up their own investigative service and solve any problems that show up on any of the messages that print out of the machine. To do this the player will need to explore environments and use items in a traditional adventure game way. The game is split up into episodes with each one being located in a different kingdom(Ice,candy, etc) Each environment is recreated well and collecting all the items is easy thanks to the fact that the developer decided to add in a see all interactables button.

Other than collecting items and interacting with notable characters from the show you will also be thrown into a really simple combat mini game from time to time. Every battle just comes down to hitting square a bunch to attack till the Jake meter fills up and you can do a special attack. All those repetitive battles will get old quick since enemies never get any more complicated. Getting past those battles and back to the main section is worth it since I enjoyed all of the adventure game parts. The 3D art style of the game emulates the cartoon well. Although it really does look like it they could have used the Tell Tale tool to make this game since the art style looks almost exactly like Sam & Max. The art style isn't going to blow anyone away but it never effected me in a negative way.

Ice King is one of the set of characters you'll be seeing throughout the 5 episodes in this game.

To be honest I don't even know that much about Adventure Time but out of all the different games based on this property this has to be the best one. (Lets just say the last few were burning piles of garbage so the fact that I enjoyed this one was a step up.) The universe of Adventure Time looks like a fun place to be with some well placed humor that can be hit or miss. If you a fan of the show I can easily recommend picking this up. Although it might be better to wait till it goes down in price since the game is fairly short. Going into this game with no knowledge of the cartoon is a harder sell but if you enjoy adventure games it is at least worth checking out.
