    Overview

Formed in the summer of 1999 by Stefan Ljungqvist, Johan Sjöberg and Marcus Thorell, Idol FX was acquired in January 2003 by Hidden Dinosaur AB before releasing their debut project, Gast. They used their own custom "FXEngine" game engine, and boasted of an "developer early access program" partnership with Intel on their website.

They are best known for their mega-flop Drake of the 99 Dragons, a game that by some accounts they and their publisher were entirely convinced would become a smash-hit multimedia franchise covering games, comic books and possibly an animated series.

The company appears to have ceased to exist sometime in 2004 after shipping FBI Hostage Rescue, with its management team fanning out into other Swedish game studios like Avalanche Studios and Paradox Interactive.
