    Avalanche Studios is a game developing studio located in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 2003 by Christofer Sundberg and brothers Linus and Viktor Blomberg.

    Avalanche Studios released their first game Just Cause in September of 2006. A sequel, Just Cause 2, was released in March 2010. In September 2011 the studio released the downloadable title Renegade Ops.

    In February 2010 the studio acquired the full rights to theHunter. The game was already using the Avalanche Engine but the rights were bought from Emote Games. A month later, on March 23, the studio announced that they had formed a daughter company, Expansive Worlds, to handle the IP. The daughter company forms Avalanche Studios casual and online division, focusing on community-driven subscription-driven titles.

    Avalanche Studios' engine is focused on huge landscapes with varied climates zones, advanced weather effects, day-to-night cycles and much more.

    Recently, Avalanche Studios founder Christofer Sundberg stated that they will be opening a new studio in New York City in the fall of 2011.
