Games I seriously underestimated
This is where my skeptical attitude helps me. Occasionally there will be a game that I didn't expect to be awesome, and it proves itself to be awesome, and it's like playing games for the first time.

I never would have guessed that a game like Persona 4 would have such amazing storytelling and presentation.

I skipped this game in favor of Earthbound, luckily I had a friend who picked up CT to show me what I was missing.

The game so completely turned around the single player experience of the first Gears in practically every way. This is the sort of turnaround I want to see more often.

Even though the game piqued my interest when it was first announced, I wasn't convinced the game actually was special for a good while. The demo, in fact, made me think the game was worse than it turned out to be.
When I finally put some good time into VC, I came to realize the game was better than I could have possibly imagined.

This game proved itself by being a game I went back to time and time again over the years. It's up there with Tetris.

The concepts behind AC seemed interesting enough but I thought the game would feel plodding and stale.

Even though AC1 surprised me, I wasn't prepared for how much better AC2 would be.

I underestimated how awesome and fun the new characters Capcom added would be to play.

When WipEout first came out, I thought the backgrounds must be prerendered. "No way those can be real time 3d." Later in life I have came to know numerous others who felt the same way about early PS1 games.
