Brad reviewing Destiny would be like Dan reviewing Metal Gear

Only..not at all?

Brad's opinion on the Taken King is not helpful to a consumer who did not like Destiny and who is now trying to determine whether the new updated version of Destiny is a worthwhile investment. That is the exact target group for a Taken King review as anyone who already liked Destiny (like Brad) was clearly already going to buy the Taken King.

How did you reach this conclusion? Brad very clearly laid out the problems with Destiny 1.0 (no story, no depth, backtracking, etc.). He then wrote about how The Taken King remedied these faults (chock full of story and cutscenes, wide variety of mission objectives and scenarios, brand new environments and intiricate raids, unique dailies, and so on).

I definitely had ZERO interest in Destiny when it first released, but now I'm intrigued and may eventually pick it up. You are more than welcome to continue disliking Destiny, but you are very wrong on what you think the "target audience" for the review is.

I agree that maybe someone else should have reviewed it. Despite admitting some flaws here and there Brad was always very gung-ho for Destiny - and there is nothing wrong with that - but he was one of those people for whom buying the new DLC wasn't really a question.

I played a ton of Destiny and over time with each new update I became more and more dissatisfied with the way Bungie was handling balancing and RNG thinking that it was all very anti-player and in favor of pro-longing the grind treadmill. I did weekly raids on Vault of Glass and both myself and others in my group were still not getting some of the raid gear after the 4th consecutive week; it all felt like the typical fun grind for loot was becoming an disspasionate battle against odds because there simply wasn't that much unique loot to begin with.

So for me I'd rather hear the Jeff side of the story since his views on Destiny are much more aligned with my own and it seems it's more helpful to hear from a someone who was originally very disappointing in the game, rather than be preaching to the choir.

All that said I of course respect Brads review and I'm not implying that his review is less valid or anything of that sort.
