@set: To each his own I suppose! Speaking of important games, personally I'd recommend the 2009 Bionic Commando, one of the finest examples of physics driven locomotion I've had the pleasure of experiencing to this day.
Picking up glowing glyphs to teleport into stuff is so stupid. That alone put me off this game.
Wait, so you can suspend your disbelief for star wars in general, but teleporting is what breaks it for you?
Lolllllllll
It has nothing to do with suspension of disbelief it's just an underwhelming way of getting into vehicles especially when all the past Battlefield games had physical planes and choppers waiting for you to take off in. I guess it solves the problem of players camping the airfield waiting for vehicles to spawn but I agree that big glowing icons and then a weird swipe transition feels like something from the 90's.
I actually think Jeff is right with people becoming negatively conditioned towards indie games. As much as I hate to admit it, that is exactly what is happening to me on some deeply unconscious level and I can't control it. I'm quite literally having immediate, negative reactions towards most retro-styled indie titles these days. I kind of hate it because I like to think of myself as an open minded, intelligent person, that is willing to give anything a chance - AND YET, when I see stuff like Undertale and the subsequent exaggerated positivity for it (people saying things like this is one of the top 5 games they ever played, ever) in some bizarre pavlovian reflex I'm instantly repelled by it.
I only finally tried Journey just recently when it was on PS+ because everyone saying they had tears in their eyes and what a profound experience it was made me instantly not want to have anything to do with it. Idiotic, I know! Yet I can't help it. And when I finally did play Journey, no I didn't think it was one of the best games ever made, but I did think it was really good and likewise I found the ending to be pretty emotional. Go figure.
@goodlymike: I haven't heard the ads in a while. I used to be too lazy to switch Beastcast from regular to premium on my app so each time I went out for an hour long run I'd get the ads there and like I said, it's fun, but it's not that fun. I mean it's still basically an ad interrupting my podcast, so I rather just skip it, especially since when I'm running it seems like they take forever to finish.
