Hey I'm kinda new to being a member, and I sorta don't know if I should listen to the premium bombcast or the normal one. Like in some ways I feel like I'm missing out by not listening to the normal one.
How do you guys know which one to pick?
The premium Bombcast doesn't have ads.
The ads were fun for a while but these days when I'm out on a run or something I just want to listen to the conversation and don't need two entire minutes of a schtick about Crunchyroll or whatever.
@tennmuerti: It's really heartbreaking when I see a game that stylistically appears to be awesome, but I know I'll just hate the gameplay. Had a similar situation with Dungeons of the Endless. I love the way it looks, but man that rogue-like, randomly generated stuff they have going on just makes it seem like your performance is highly dependant on luck.
@efesell: Yes that is completely true and thats my point. People point towards old MMO business practices like the necessity to own all previous expansions to play new ones, when MMO's themselves are slowly doing away with all that because thats simply not how people play games anymore. Likewise people don't want to pay monthly fees for games because the free-to-play market has shaped a new generation of gamers that feel out of place when they have to pay for a game upfront.
Having just shelled out a shitload of money for a game that I already owned and two expansion DLC packs that are now completely redundant, I'm pretty hesitant to give Destiny any more money.
Ever.
The same type of thinking made me actively not buy any of it, because I don't want to spend more money on a game I already own and on obsolete DLC content.
As depressing as it sounds, I'm surprised it took them this long. They bottleneck the economy in Destiny in oh so many ways with their dozens of different currencies that I expected the Taken King to roll out with some sort of microtransaction options from day one.
They'll ease in with emotes and dances but with time I'm sure they'll introduce some sort of one-armed-bandit machine where you can pay real money to roll the dice on a random exotic. Activision is too business orientated and Destiny is simply too perfect an opportunity to pass that up on. If anything, time has proven that people will continue playing it, and buying the content, no matter how egregious the conditions get. Everyone just grumbles and says "well thats how all MMO's do it" as if we're in the heyday of that dying genre and that sort of business practice is still an accepted norm.
@radioactivez0r: I dunno, Sanitarium wasn't about isolation as much as it was about identity and battling inner demons. The insane world it presented was populated by plenty of non violent NPC's that you could talk to at your leisure.
If anything this game resembles the I Have No Mouth.. adventure game which was similarly dark and brooding with a strangely organically-mechanical level design and lack of other characters in the world.
Yeah I do hope Drew sees about the briefing tapes. Without them there is not a lot of context.
I honestly realized the briefing tapes offer more in depth information than just the dialog that plays on your chopper ride into the mission after I finished the game.
Oh and I also JUST found out you can have loadouts.
I don't know where people are pulling the Sanitarium similarities from apart from the isometric angle. I played and beat Sanitarium and trust me this game, while pretty creepy, is not even close to the levels of insanity that was Sanitarium. That last boss.. man.. YAH, the final BOSS of a point and click adventure game, and it was a minigame. Jesus.
Game was cool as hell though. Stasis looks really interesting too, but I'm going to be one of those monsters that wait for a nice sale before diving in.
@artisanbreads: I mean sometimes people end up feeling just as sick as if they actually caught the flu after a flu shot. Just thought it was funny how Dans mind works in these mysterious ways - never ceases to amaze really!
Let it be noted for the record that Dan Ryckert cannot fathom how someone might call in sick the next day after a flu shot, Dan Ryckert, the same man that is scared to eat mayonnaise.
