Hey! How are you doing? I'm a little tired but otherwise I'm doing fine and hope you are doing fine too! I'm Anthony Grimando and I usually go by Squeaver on the world wide web. I don't want to write this in third person because it seems weird and I'm lazy and am gonna pump this out real quick. (No proofreading, no drafts, all one take baby) I really don't have many accolades to put here to show that I'm important or that you should read this but I hope you like what you see.
You can find me on Twitter if you want to yell at me or something.
5 GAMES I REALLY ENJOYED THIS YEAR AND MIGHT CALL MY TOP 5 BUT THEY AREN'T REALLY IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER
5. Hitman
I've never actually played a Hitman game before this one. I've seen footage of them and such but they never really seemed like they would be my thing and seemed really janky but after seeing how dumb this one looked I picked it up on the most recent steam sale and gave it a try. I don't think I've really put enough time into it to really explore everything. I kind of rushed through the missions because I wanted to see them all but I had fun along the way. It's crazy to think how everyone was so skeptical about this game coming out over the course of the year and how well it worked. It really seems like the only way to play that game. I will definitely be buying the pass for season 2 and will enjoy more Agent 47 shenanigans to come.
4. DOOM
GLORY KILL GLORY KILL GLORY KILL GLORY KILL GLORY KILL GLORY KILL RUN SHOOT RUN SHOOT RUN SHOOT RUN SHOOT RUN SHOOT RUN SHOOT RUN SHOOT RUN SHOOT METAL METAL METAL METAL METAL METAL METAL METAL METAL METAL GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE GORE
This game is fun as hell and I don't know what else to say.
I need to finish reading Masters of Doom. Being in the midst of reading that book while playing DOOM really gave me a better appreciation for the franchise and ID.
3. The Witness
Yo homie some of these puzzles were hella hard and I had to look them up and I regret doing that and felt like I was just rushing through the game, and by the end of it I regretted doing that. This game is so beautiful and is just really relaxing to walk around in. I loved that eerie feeling of being alone and exploring the ruins of this island. I loved listening to the audio logs and watching the videos, just learning about philosophy and stuff. I loved finding the answers to puzzles or just finding hidden puzzles in places you would never think to look. This game is beautiful and I love it and I still can't believe Jonathan Blow had an fmv ending with a piss jug.
2. Overwatch
I've been staying at my parents house for the last 2 weeks and all I can think about is how excited I am to go home and play Overwatch. There really isn't much more to be said that hasn't been said already about this game but it feels really rewarding no matter how good or bad you are at this video game.
1. Pokemon Moon
Pokemon is my favorite and most memorable series of any game. When I was 3 years old my parents gave me a Gameboy and Pokemon Blue so I wouldn't be a terrible screaming child on an upcoming flight. Little did they know that providing this game would push me into the spiraling hell hole that is video games. I've been a fan of Pokemon ever since. There was a stretch of time from around 2009 to 2014 where they would release a Pokemon game every year and as time went on I was really getting tired of these games. I was sad that I was slowly drifting away from Pokemon. I trudged through the last few titles barely being able to finish them, and then Pokemon took a year off and it was a relief. Taking that year off was just what we needed. Pokemon came back stronger than ever with some much needed changes to a formula that hasn't changed in 20 years. I'm back in it baby. I just 100% the Pokedex this morning and am contemplating buying the other version just to play it all again. I can't wait to see what Pokemon has in store in the future.
