Every other week, tune into 8-4 Play for talk about video games, Japan, and Japanese video games, straight from the 8-4 offices in beautiful downtown Tokyo. Hosted by 1UP Japan's own Mark MacDonald, John Ricciardi, and Hiroko Minamoto.
I'm not sure there is a point to posting this here, if the 8-4 dudes check this, I've been listening for years, but.. I've finally broke:
Who the F is always messing with their mic? lol There is this constant bumping, rustling, moving, brushing in all or a lot of the 8-4 podcasts. I'm just picturing someone there who can't stop fondling their mic. Is it Mark? I bet it's Mark.
I'm amazed someone who is monitoring audio while recording isn't hearing this. It's weirdly irritating.
Wow, more hate for Stranger Things Season 2 than I would've guessed. I mean, sure, the Nancy-Jonathan plotline is almost completely irrelevant to anything else going on that season, and then the two of them just kinda show up just in time for the climax and help out a little bit in the last couple episodes, so that was just kinda weird. But other than that, most of the season was pretty consistent in quality with season 1, which they all loved, so it's kinda weird to hear them nitpick so many things. I wonder if they went back and watched season 1 again whether they would still like it or not.
Can't agree with the opinions on Stranger Things 2 at all. The 1st season was terrific & the 2nd was even better which was a surprise to me. Everyone having their own separate pairs & story line which didn't have to directly affect each other was great.
I really liked that they focused on the what's best about the show for me which is the characters & their interactions with each other. It's not the mystery or time period it's set in, but the cast & just how well they all work off & with each other. That to me is what makes this series so good & different from most.
When I hear conversations like the one on this podcast it makes wonder if people are just missing the point & wanting it to be something it's not. I don't want this to sound mean but it makes me glad most people just talk about shows rather than have the power to make them.
@passingthrough: It's fine. Considering the way Mark talks about almost everything, and John talks about Microsoft, this isn't even close to 8-4's possible threshold for mean.
