I bought Days Gone sometime ago for my PS4 during a sale, played a little of it, and put it down because I wasn't feeling it. It felt very sluggish. Fast Forward sometime later, got a PS5 and one of the first things I heard was that Days Gone ran at 60fps on PS5 because of its unlocked frame rate. Played on the PS5 and couldn't put it down until I finished it. If you want to know what difference frames make in a game, play Days Gone. Now I finally see why most gamers want 60fps or more in their games. And we should get a Days Gone 2.

So, who else like suuuupeeerrr wants to build a keyboard now?

Am I the only person who got Days Gone confused with Death Stranding before it came out? For some reason, I always thought Days Gone was the game Norman Reedus was going to be in. Maybe that would have gotten us a Days Gone 2.

Days Gone is indeed a wonderful PC port. I fell off of it fast when I played it on PS4. It's just a much smoother experience, at least on my 8086k/RTX2070 setup. Rorie's right, the dialog when you're just roaming around is kind of awkward. If you're in an area where you need to destroy a bunch of nests, you can find a perimeter where Deacon will say like "oh I guess I'll come back later and deal with those nests", and then you can take a step backwards and immediately he'll say "ugh, I guess I'll take care of these dang nests." They really overdid it.

I could not finish Days Gone because the story, characters and dialogue were completely insufferable. I think Jeff nailed it with the "tough guy in a comedy" description.

@janman I've been considering a wrist computer in a similar vein. What I ended up with was a wearable computer. A sewn forearm case using a Raspberry Pi and TFT Touchscreen sewn into the cloth for a wearable computer. Though it also needs to be custom programmed. Raspberry Pi Zero W + TFT Touch Screen available on Adafruit, plus a small rechargeable battery pack, and some conductive thread.

@bdgamer: Days Gone would have needed to be a better game for us to get Days Gone 2. By better I of course mean that in the Sony meaning of the word - unless you’re a blockbuster hit you’re out.

So for anyone who wants to know, Tower Unite is based off a gamemode from Garry's Mod named GMod Tower, from the same developers in fact. GMod Tower got really popular (Twitch streamers even got into it years ago I believe) at some point and the devs decided to make a full game out of it. The GMod version came out in 2009 I think, Tower Unite came out in EA in 2016 and is still constantly updated with new gamemodes/fixes etc.

I got Lasik 2 weeks ago after almost 30 years of glasses and im at 20/20. totally worth it, just a kind of freaky procedure that lasts less than 3 minutes. Most places have 0 interest payment plans over 12 months.

@jeff Not sure if you need glasses for close or distance, but if you have different up close distance prescriptions, beware bifocals for computer use. If you sit close to a large monitor or tv so it takes up a lot of your field of vision, bifocals are a big fail because you dont get peripheral vision in focus and lose the edges of the screen/task bar etc. Varifocals or progressives are even worse.

Having a pair just for computer use is OK, but it soon becomes a pain in the ass taking them on and off every time you leave the chair. Franklin/Executive lenses have been a good choice for me for around the home. Bottom half of lense for computer, top half of lense for general use.

When it comes to quiet and responsive keyboards Jeff i might recommend just a regular ass membrane keyboard.

Honestly I can't recommend getting contacts enough. They take some getting used to but once you figure it out it's no problem.

Mine are monthly lenses that I can sleep with so I usually take them out one night a week. Obviously I have a pair of glasses too but man I fucking hate using them for any extended period of time. They get dirty in a second and are just in the way all the time, especially when using headphones.

Days Gone came out over a year before The Last of Us 2, and they aren’t even that similar games. Jeff is the only person I ever hear talking about them being too close together.

@curufinwe: Days Gone was announced at E3 2016, while Last of Us Part II was announced in December 2016. Then for two and a half years Sony had two similarly brutal and grim first-party zombie-post-apocalypse-in-America games announced with not a lot of specifics to set them apart. This was bound to draw comparisons, and Jeff is hardly the only game industry commentator to think this was a strange double-booked programming choice.

And ultimately TLoU Part II’s impending release probably cannibalised a lot of the sales Days Gone could’ve had, or Sony cannibalised it themselves by putting less marketing money behind Days Gone than TLoU Part II.

I thought Deacon's commentary throughout the game was entertaining in Days Gone. "Ohhh Nest! Burn it down!" I don't think its too much, especially since his dialog changes depending on the situation throughout the game. I love when he taunts the human baddies while killing them. And is it hard to believe someone would be talking to themselves in the middle of a zombie outbreak while trying to survive...

Glad I'm not the only one who can't handle getting water in their eyes. I can't imagine trying to put on contacts, sounds like a nightmare lol.

Just here to say that hearing Feel So Good by Waldo's People was probably the weirdest part of Tower Unite.

Well I get Rorie's complaint about skipping dialogue... I just never understand it. Voice actors and animators put a lot of work into cutscenes. If you don't care for the story, you skip it all together, but to say I read faster than people speaking it is like saying: give me the script to the movie, I'll just read it and not watch it being acted out.
