Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am honored to be your host this week as we look back at the best creative endeavors from the community! Hopefully all of you have a competitive spirit because the big news this week relates to an upcoming friendly competition the Giant Bomb community will be having with the MinnMax community. On Monday, July 25th at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST, MinnMax will be hosting a video game trivia competition. If you have interest in joining you can either subscribe to MinnMax's Patreon to join their Discord OR you can join Giant Bomb's Discord and find the referral link in the "News" section. If Giant Bomb wins, then Dan gets to pick a game under ten hours to force the host of MinnMax to play to completion.
As many of you may recall, Jess was away on vacation following the Bombcast, but if you miss her already, consider checking out the episode of the Super GG Radio podcast she guested on recently. If you were wondering, the Super GG Radio program is a gaming podcast produced by NPR Illinois.
Finally, some of you may have experienced issues with saving profile setting earlier this week. The good news is that the problem should be solved, but if you continue experiencing this issue, please notify panicswitch in the bug report thread. Speaking of bug news, some people in the public beta of iOS 16 on iPad are experiencing issues with the Bomb Cyclone, a Giant Bomb video app for iPhone and iPad! The problem is an OS issue without a clear workaround. With all of that in mind, let's jump into the Spotlight!

This was supposed to be you until I realized how much of a pain it is to mask your hair. Please accept the other (and cooler) Jeff Grubb in this gif. pic.twitter.com/Hw2GZzRc50— Kone (@KoneBomb) July 19, 2022
Quick note about @PackBenPack mentioning he deleted the inflation porn from AnimeVice. Others were assigned different sites and I was the one who systematically deleted every porn and hentai screencap from @giantbomb.— GB Duders Feed (@GBDudersFeed) July 20, 2022
As was the case last week, jearum was an an artistic roll. First up is a rendition of the big group Quick Look for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge on the site, but this tie imagined the staff as characters in the game going up against a familiar foe.
It goes without saying that Dan has no shame and is happy to discuss all of his bodily function in public as well as live on-air. For whatever reason, Dan's toilet habits have become a frequent talking point during the Voicemail Dump Truck. As such, jearum took that and ran with it in the form of two wonderful works of art.
Kone has been making Funko Pop versions of the Giant Bomb staff for a while now and with a new batch of staff, they did what they do best: make Funko Pop versions of the staff.
For those of you that have listened to Bombcast #747, you know that Tamoor and Lucy decided to go to an escape room. Seeing an opportunity to depict the two in the style of the original Resident Evil, jearum made this!
Thanks jearum, I hate it.
Also, it is time again to vote for the next game for the Community Game Pass Game Club! The nominees include: Telling Lies, Paradise Killer, Olija, Shredder's Revenge, Escape Academy, and Power Wash Simulator! Likewise, do not forget that Unpacking is the current Game Pass Game Club pick and if you have anything to share about the game, feel free to share it as long as it is not a spoiler.
Mento has a new episode of their "Indie Game of the Week" feature on the site and this one is all about Eldest Souls! Read why they think it is a game designed for those that completed Dark Souls a dozen times over, but not for them. Likewise, Mento continues their journey into the world of video game-based animes and OVAs and vice-versa with a look at Ghost Sweeper Mikami and 1993's GS Mikami: Joreishi wa Nice Body! How well does the humor of this poltergeist comedy hold up? Finally, they wrote a review and deeper dive into La-Mulana 2, its mechanics, lore, and oddly immersive world. If you dismissed it as a simple sequel to the first game, give this a read!
The second episode of moderator ZombiePie's retrospective on Final Fantasy VI is up and this one covers the Phantom Forest, the Opera House, and Vector. Read why they think the Pixel Remaster's version of the Opera House is a work of art.
Daavpuke finally bought a Nintendo Switch and shares on Giant Bomb what their first impressions of the console are and which games they have had the most fun playing on it thus far!
As a kid, bigsocrates remembers the gory visuals of 1993's Night Slashers creeping them out. So, they decided to return to the game and see if its visuals and gameplay have held up.
How important are the laws of physics to a video game? And I'm not just talking about a good physics engine with that question! Continuing with their deep looks at Outer Wilds, moderator Gamer_152 looks at how the game represents blackholes and quantum mechanics from a purely scientific lens.
How many of you have picked up and played Stray, the cat game everyone is talking about? If you have thoughts about the cat-based adventure from Annapurna Interactive use the link to share how you feel about it!
People are up in arms about the sunsetting of the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS eShops, but what is your reaction to the news? What do you plan to do to prepare for the digital marketplaces going offline?
Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, but there's now a discussion thread and poll debating if Dan upheld his promise to eat a hat. What say you? The current poll results suggest the community is pretty united about this topic.
This week was not exactly a good one for Ubisoft Entertainment. Are any of you surprised by the Avatar delay or Splinter Cell VR and Ghost Recon Frontline cancellations? What do you think is going on in Ubisoft?
The topic sounds so simple on paper, but it is difficult to express in writing. When you are forced to think of your favorite games to play, what are they and what makes the fun to control? In your book, what are the best games in terms of pure gameplay?
How many of you out there have checked out the Advanced Edition of Into the Breach? Is the update enough to bring you back to the game? What other changes do you wish for the game in the future?
Here's a fun discussion thread and poll for the community to mull over! When you are eating toast or a biscuit and some crumbs hit the floor, what is your first reaction? Do you clean that up or let it lie there?
Here's an interest topic for anyone with a Xbox Series X|S, but what 360 games have you noticed that got a noticeable performance boost via the console's backwards compatibility?
StealthRUSH has made a "Top 100" list for almost every platform on the site and this week they really struggled to make a combined top 100 for the Apple Pippin \ CD-i. If all you know about the platforms are those Zelda games, give it a look!
I promise that this "Smash DLC Want" list on the site will make you laugh or your money back.
- @doomocrat's Rogue Legacy 2 review extensively examines the game's mechanics and argues why they think its difficulty curve is close to "perfection."
- @retrogimp's Capcom Fighting Collection review discusses why they think it feels more like a tribute to the Darkstalkers franchise than a celebration of 35 years of Street Fighter, but why that's not that big of a problem.
Wiki Of The Week
It has been a while since I last did this, but this week's Wiki Page of the Week is a call for help. Giant Bomb's wiki object page for S'mores only has two games, and the page could do with a nice deck explaining what the food item has done to players in games in the past.
If you can think of any wiki pages that are "worthy" of showcasing, send them to me however you can. Also, remember, self-promotion is ENCOURAGED! Also, if you can think of pages that need help, feel free to suggest those as well!
