The Community Spotlight 2023.08.05

Don't say it.

Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the best community-created content from the previous week!

As most of you know, Jeff Grubb has returned from their vacation. Moving forward, the site's programming schedule will return to normal.

Also, some people have been asking about Niki Grayson. Their contract starts this month. Currently, they are attending the Women's World Cup in person in Australia.

It was previously announced that the professional wrestler Jeff Jarrett would be attending last week's Voicemail Dump Truck. Unfortunately, a sudden scheduling change prevented him from doing so, but you can rest assured that Jarrett will be attending the podcast in the future.

Also, here's another friendly reminder I'm working on a list of the Twitter alternatives the staff are using to keep everyone updated on their activities and possible site-related announcements. If you know of any accounts that are missing from my list, please drop a comment.

Finally, I created Tumblr, cohost, and Bluesky alternatives to the Giant Bomb Community Twitter account. I wish to thank the dozens of you that have already subscribed to one of these accounts and liked the posts I have shared with each of them. This helps me gauge which platforms are worth investing in moving forward.

Dan & Podcasts (By: @days_off_gaming)

So, if you have been listening to the Fire Escape podcast and following Dan's recent tiff with Mike, you know that he doesn't listen to podcasts, even the ones he's on. As someone who is on a podcast and has a verbal speech impediment, I actually relate to Dan, but this photoshop by days_off_gaming is definitely hilarious.

Do you enjoy or hate the Claymation-inspired art in Doom 64?
Do you enjoy or hate the Claymation-inspired art in Doom 64?

@sbc515's id Software review series continues with Doom 64, Wolfenstein 3D (XBLA Port), Wolfenstein 3D (SNES Port), and Doom (PlayStation Port)! They are taking the time to check out odd ports of the originals like the incredibly notorious SNES port of Wolfenstein 3D, but I highly recommend their review of Doom 64!

@pauljeremiah'S reviews of Pixeljunk Sidescroller, PixelJunk Eden, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Braid, Fez, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (PlayStation 4) round off an incredibly diverse and eclectic group of games. My favorite has to be their review of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops as it weighs the weird pros and cons that game had on the future of the franchise.
