Weekend Viewing: A Whole Big Lot Of Uncharted 2 Footage

A little--no, make that a lot--of weekend viewing for you: IGN and GameTrailers both have significant pieces of gameplay footage from the single-player campaign in Naughty Dog's next swashbucklin' adventure, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I know the first game had its issues, but you must admit, this is one fine-looking game. I hope the shooting has been refined to match the quality of the visuals.

Drake is truly amongst thieves.

Is it just me or is anyone else feeling that looks exactly like MGS 4 from that first video?

The first thing I thought was PMC vs rebels. =|
In a way that's good because I love MGS4.

Although it does look incredible still, and I know it wont play like MGS.

Uncharted 2, InFamous, Killzone 2......other than Mass Effect 2 (which isn't a 360 exclusive), I think im going to go ahead and say it -

Finally the PS3 is adaquately prepared to rock and or roll.

The player character mechanics realized in Lara Croft have matured considerably in Nathan Drake. But, I'm sure Nate would be envious of ole' Cole McGrath over there in Empire City 'cause his climbing options seem infinitely less obtuse, less the supernatural powers.

Yes, the video is particularly amazing. To think it still has roughly 5 months polish left in it is practically amazing.

@Mattysen - did you note the way they'd integrated the platforming and the combat? Because they have. It was one of their priorities.

The secod video is kickin ass!!! My favorites are how the ledges are falling off almost naturally, the superman punch and sneaking up on a guy around the corner. I just had 3 "Oh Snap" moments. I'm loving this so far.

Looks great so far! Loved the first one, and this one looks like it's taking that original formula and adding to it very effectively.

The characters in the first game were one of the strongest points. Hopefully new " bearded Drake " is same regular guy,  not chip on his shoulder anti-hero. 

Wow, now I want a ps3 :(

I hate how Drake is this one-man-army guy. He just takes out loads of soldiers all the time. I wish it was more about him running away from them and doing more platforming. At least the combat looks much improved in this one.

Uncharted still rules, clearly.

And dude, the best part of Uncharted is the traversal gunplay, running away and shooting is the best feeling. It all depends on how you play it.

I hope people who didnt play the first one see this and go "Oh Shit!" because the first has to be my favourite PS3 game.

It looks amazing. Plus the platforming looks a lot more natural than the first one and more puzzle like. Instead of just being laid directly in front of you, now it seems you have to actually look for stuff.

That looks really good. A good combo of Gears and Lara Croft.

Uncharted is my favorite game on the ps3 so far.  I have high expectations for Uncharted 2.  Looks like it is going to deliver for sure.

Im sorry to do this but no i am not trolling when i say the following.

Wow this game looks awesome...I wish it was for Xbox, is it a PS3 exclusive?

Saw this today and quite frankly, it looks great, the game is a bit more cinematic this time around and the environments look amazingly vibrant with life, wonder how the Multiplayer would be like?

Enemies die when they are shot.  That's an improvement.

Those videos are pretty awesome. I am getting a deep MGS4 vibe with it, and that is a good thing :)

Why isn't anyone commenting on the fact that the wrong video got linked here? The first one was Uncharted 2, yeah, but the second one is a months-and-months old strategy tip session for R6 Vegas, Lost Via Domus, and DMC4.

Looks aweful. We already have more then enough nextgen games featuring brown, we don't need another one with that color. Also it looks a lot like MetalGear4. Not impressed, and well, neither was I with the first one (aka Gears of War clone in the jungle).

Graphics and level design are nice.
Narrative and scenarios are awful.
Gameplay seems pretty average.

I predict the usual "spin some amazing looking trailers for a ps3 game everyone will forget about a week after its release".

Am I missing anything?

I sense a lot of jealousy here.

I never played the first Uncharted but did Drake always talk to himself that much? Except for that the gameplay doesn't look bad. And the set pieces like the bus were nice.

I didn't like a lot of the gunplay in Uncharted but it looks awesome here.  The guys actually die in a reasonable amount of shots!  Good to see.  Also awesome to see the platforming and shooting combined a bit instead of having them be seperate affairs.

Between this footage and the surprisingly awesome looking multiplayer that was shown a little while back, I gotta say Uncharted 2 looks like a big step up from the first and a really outstanding looking game.
