Joining a multiplayer session has gotten better, but is still a bit janky. But joining alone is completely different to trying to join a game with your friend. Me and a friend tried in vain to get into a game together for an hour. We did not play a single game together. The game would separate us from the group, put us in different sessions, sometimes we'd be in the same game but it would separate us when it tried to find a different game, make us unable to join a game one of us had got into AND had spaces. It was ridiculous. Never have i seen something so broken. Even Fat princess' early days weren't as bad!  
Has anyone tried playing a game with their friends?
 And just to reiterate, this is about playing with a friend only. The single player is awesome and the multiplayer, even if the connection could be better, is still awesome.

It's near impossible ti play with friends. Hopefully when the free DLC comes out it will also come with a patch for the terrible matchmaking.

I have never had this problem.
My friend and I usually play together a lot and we never have problems.

Assuming you're on the 360, try being in a group on xbl, then picking a ranked game. For some reason, playing ranked games have proved to work way better for me and my friend when we played.

I tried playing with a friend for the first time this morning. The first two games we got separated, but after that, we just kept hitting rematch and were able to play just fine. 
 
Edit: Xbox 360 for me.

I played with TheFlamingHobo several weeks ago and had no problems.

I love this game but the multiplayer matchmaking is bad beyond belief...
