    At what point in the story is the entire city of Rome open for missions and things?  I prefer to tackle all the side missions once the game is done giving me "features".  I just started Chapter 5 but I'm unsure if all of Rome is explorable or not.   
     
    When did you guys start doing the side missions?

    I did all of the side missions (Leonardo, Romulus Lairs, purchasing all of Rome, etc) before I started the final sequence...Sequence 9 IIRC.  Once the endgame starts rolling the game pushes you fairly hard to finish it.  I would recommend doing the same.

    Right at the start of the  8th segment. Don't do any story missions.
