My friends on xbox get this for free and I went to play on PC and it wants to charge me $30? Am I missing something?

This topic is locked from further discussion.
Seems bullshit I brought it day one off origin, not paying $30 for a map pack when the consoles get it free!
@SlasherMan: I brought it off origin, so i dont get how i could of got limited edition got no code in email either.

How the fuck is it $30 on the PC? The DLC is $15 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

@deerokus: Thats weird I got a 3gb patch when i launched bf3 but when i went to the new map servers it said i had to buy it ?!?
This thread is almost entirely people saying they got it for free, which isn't what the OP was wondering, guys.
The age of free stuff for PC games is over. At least for the major publishers, who like money a whole lot and are trying to get more and more out of the big releases.
Now, this particular pack is actually a pretty good thing: New maps relatively close to launch and you get it for free if you bought the game early. 15 Dollars/Euros is probably a bit much for a couple of maps, but they are esteemed classics and you get some other stuff with the pack too. So it´s probably worth it for somebody who plays a lot of BF3... but then again, that somebody would have purchased BF3 closer to launch.

Battlefield have never been in the age of free stuff. We've been paying for expansions/booster packs since 1942. Hell, giving it away for free to some user is more generous than ever for DICE/EA.
That was a normal patch so you could USE that DLC. Same thing when Vietnam came out. And you only got it free when you pre ordered.@deerokus: Thats weird I got a 3gb patch when i launched bf3 but when i went to the new map servers it said i had to buy it ?!?
If your copy looks like the above, you dun fucked up.
If your copy looks like this:
Then you're cool. EA did make this clear about two months prior to release.

When they told you all first print limited editions come with the Back to Karkand expansion pack for free...
Well, you should have listened.
If by first print, you mean pre-order editions?
Cause I bought the game the very morning it came out and still didn't get it. I figured "Hey, I'm buying it digitally on PC, I don't need to pre-order, their stock is unlimited". So I get fucked for buying their game first day. No thank you, EA. I was done with BF3 when Skyrim came out anyway.

The pack is damn good, got it free on PC.
If not, it's $15 across all platforms.
Oh shut up captain hindsight, some of us were given the wrong copy of the game, also if you buy the game at the same time, and pay the same amount as the next guy, you should get the same content, this pre-order shit is a total fucking joke, it fucks the customers in the ass when they pay their hard earned cash for a product.

If you were given the wrong copy of the game, then that is an problem you should have with your retailer, not EA or DICE (unless you bought it off origin). While I agree that pre order deals can sometimes go overboard (like Arkham City), EA did it pretty well. "Hey pre order this and get this one free thing, don't and you don't get it."
Seems pretty straightforward to me, especially considering they have been talking about Karkand months before BF3 even came out, so even if you were only tangentially following BF3 you woould have known about it.
@big_jon:
Calm the fuck down little_jon and learn to read...
It was a FIRST PRINT limited edition offer, NOT pre-order.
I know people who DIDN'T pre-order and still got it for free.
Just cuz you're slow ass couldn't get to the store in time or you had to wait for a reviewer to tell you it was a good game isn't anyone's fault but your own.
Ya did it to yourself.
Drop the high and mighty "this pre-order shit is garbage, blah blah blah."
It is what it is, they sell games, they try to entice you to buy their product ASAP by making these deals.
Captain hindsight, good one, never heard that one before cuz no one has bothered saying such stupid shit.
Don't come at me cuz YOU fucked up brah.
hah
Not my fault your favorite store (Wallmart) didn't have any extra Limited Editions.
Other stores did.

Not wanting to fan the flames ... and also to the OP point about "not all of us live in america" ... I'm in Australia and the Limited Edition is still avaliable in stores and on eBay for the same price as the normal one. There's less of them, but hey that's what you'd expect. If you want it, look for it, but let's not get too mad about this. Video games aren't the only medium to do "limited editions" and "only in the first run" stuff.
@MikkaQ:
(Hear me out, not trying to be hostile like my buddy little_jon there, just wanna be clear.)
No, first print is whatever # of games they decided beyond pre-orders.
Yes, all pre-orders were included but there were a certain amount after that left over from the first manufacturing run.
They may have printed 7 million limited editions and 5 million people pre-ordered.
Whatever # was left over was up for grabs.
I've got no idea, I don't know the numbers, but that's the way it works, like it or not.
If the copy you purchased, pre-order or not, had the orange corner that says "Includes Access To Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand Expansion Pack" then you were good.
Like DICE said (and some1 else mentioned) months and months before the games release, all limited editions would include it, not pre-orders.
I pre-ordered on PC, I got it.
My cousin did not pre-order it for the 360 but he went to the store on day 1 and snagged a copy it was limited edition.
I brought it on origin, ugh this has put me right off the game to split up the player base only a month after release for some hd remakes, would of happily paid 3 months but 1 month is too soon.

Shut the fuck up you pretentious little prick, don't start talking down to me because you are making ignorant claims while only knowing the half truth. Get off you fucking high horse, this is a stupid situation, me along with others were handed the wrong edition of the game while being told that we in fact had the correct ones, without seeing the limited edition box before hand how the fuck were we supposed to know any different?
I picked the game up at midnight you stupid fuck, I also pre-ordered, your point is invalid, have a nice day.
Also "little Jon", good one, I must make you fell pretty inadequate.
Lastly, I'm not too slow to know that you're=you are.

Because Limited Editions usually say "Limited Edition" on them? I know all of EA's recent ones have. D:
Once again, I asked the Gamestop employee that handed me the game, he said it was the same as all the rest, that they were all limited, like the first run of BadCompany 2.
Selling two Editions of the game at launch, making it a draw to see who is lucky is retarded, this issue is a big part the fault of EA and their stupid pre-order garbage. Also having two "Limited" editions makes it further unclear, as one is the box you pay extra for.
I only found out because my friend got the game on Black Friday, and I noticed that his box was different than mine.

1. Don't trust Gamestop employee's.
2. It wasn't really a draw, a lot of places offered (including Origin) offered the Limited Edition as a seperate item.
I guess there's nothing to do! stop buying EA products or something then! :D

It was a draw, Walmart and the like that got half and half, I have friends who got it by chance and others who didn't.
