We won’t know more about what BioWare’s working on until a certain awards show later this year, but Game Informer released the first teaser image/mock up/something of BioWare’s next franchise. What do you think? I'm, uh, going with Jade Empire 2.

Your First (Super Vague) Look at BioWare’s Next Game

So it has violence in it. I.e. it's a video game.
With that said what a fucking time to release teaser information but I guess Game Informer can't stop getting preview exclusives just because it's busy this time of year.
Umm... just because it's set in a desert environment and has jeeps with mounted guns on the back doesn't automatically mean its post apocalyptic.... hold on i didn't read the rules on post apocalyptic games, maybe it does.
inb4 people try and extrapolate genre and quality of the game from one image
IIRC, last year's teaser image for their VGA announcement was the British sniper guy from the ME3 announcement trailer, so with that in mind I'll just wait until we get a trailer next month
Also, Bioware hasn't always made RPGs, don't forget Shattered Steel.

god damn, again with post apocalyptic?
Haha, that was exactly my thought. Hopefully it's not that.
It's Shattered Steel 2. High five? nobody? okay,
Maybe its like a time travelling thing ???? The truck that's on the ground looks similar if not identical to the one on the left which has obviously been blown up somehow... maybe a time warp of sorts ?
Not Jade Empire to though... guessing based on the guns... which kind of sucks.

Awesome, it's another brown looking game :/
Though looking at the image again, it reminds me of Smuggler's Run.

Doesn't look like it will be an RPG.
Can't say I'm surprised
If it isn't, I won't be either. Sad, yes. Surprised? No.

Looking at the screenshot it could be in some post-apocalyptic setting but it could just as easily be modern day. Bioware is EA's RPG label now so I really doubt this is not an RPG of some kind and from the press release it sounds like its not from Bioware Edmonton or Bioware Austin.
Modern Day could be cool since they already have Medieval Fantasy and Sci-Fi locked down. I remember playing Alpha Protocol and thinking how few RPGs have been set in a Modern Day setting. I mean you get stuff like the Persona series but their trope is that all the combat and crazy stuff is happening in an evil dimension against demons and such. There are not a lot of games that try to apply RPG mechanics to a quasi-realistic modern day setting.
Alpha Protocol as janky as that game was did do some interesting things. But they ran into problems when adapting traditional RPG mechanics such as stealth. In a fantasy RPG you can say a rouge has the ability to slip around unnoticed or you can actually have someone with an invisibility spell or invisibility cloak. With Sci-Fi they can use some kind of Active Light-Distorting camouflage. But in Alpha Protocol its weird to see a crouched translucent dude walking between guards. I think these types of problems are interesting issues to tackle and I would like to see someone else's take on it. But I may be reading way too much into that screenshot.
