Loot'n'shoot!
I guess to start, this game review is long overdue considering how long it's been out and been played. I guess if you aren't a fan of RPG's, FPS's, or Dungeon Crawler/looting games then there probably wasn't much for you in BORDERLANDS but for those of you who do you were in for one helluva game.
This game offered a shit-load of loot, run-and-gunning, vehicular combat (not the best but still fun), co-op play with up to 3 of your buds, and some damn fun DLC's. The game put together some concepts that have been done before but with a different take and art style that made the game not only fun but stands out graphically. As most everyone knows, the game went through an rehaul with graphics late into development that ultimately made it one of it's trademark memories.
The game delivered on a lot on the "fun factor" but the story fell short. The game had a looser plot than I expected but that was just one fault (of only a few) which don't ruin the game as a whole. There are a few times when the game -might- glitch you in a wall during a jump or a fall but those are pretty much it.
The player begins with a basic breakdown of the playstyle and gives the player his/her bearings on how to play and from there on out it's all run-and-gun. The players scours Pandora to find pieces of the vault key which will grant them access to a Vault which is said to hold treasures beyond imagination. The player ventures from the small town of Fyrestone, to the Dahl Headlands, New Haven, the Rust Commons (East and West), literally the Middle of Nowhere, Old Haven, the Trash Coast, the heart of the Crimson Alliance and eventually to the Eridian Promontory which leads to the gate of the Vault itself. There are bandits, skags, rakks, and badasses'a'plenty (and a few bosses) for your killing pleasure, all which increase your xp and loot as you progress through your adventure.
The game's DLC's add hours of game play and increase your capability of finding better and better loot (as well as a bank to store your more valuable stuff) and opening the landscape of Pandora at the same time. As a whole the game doesn't dissatisfy if you're a general fan of FPS's or loot driven gameplay. If you haven't yet given this game a shot, the used price (for the core game or GOTY Edition) is worth it for the gaming experience. Go forth fearless zombie fodder and wreak havoc upon the baddies of Pandora with great vengeance and furious anger.
