Paradise is a perfect blend of great action and smooth racing
Burnout Paradise is a very different Burnout Game. It still has all of the very high intense racing but in a different formula. This time around the game uses an open-ended formula that works well to the games advantage. The game knows how to make this formula work by making everything you do in the games world so seamless
To start out the game it seems pretty bare and barely gives you any detail. But also th world is so huge that you might be pretty confused about how to do races and other events. Then after you tear down a couple billboards then you will probably understand how to start up events. Events are super easy to start. All you need to do is just pull up to a stop light and hold onto the gas and the break button.
Racing events are pretty self-explanitory. You start at one point and you need to get to another point. This sounds simple but at first it may be very hard. Since the world is quite large you will be pretty confused about which roads to take. So a good strategy will be to pause the game and plan out your route on the games map. Marked Man is similar but you are just trying to survive while other cars are trying to crash into you. Road Rage events were in previous Burnout games and is pretty easy this time around. In these events you have to takedown a certain number of cars untill time runs out. The cars are really easy to takedown so this event will probably be the easiest. Lastly their is the stunt run event. This event has you trying to just wreck havoc on everything in the enviornment. This event actually is the hardest. To be sucessful in this event you need to be in an area where their are a lot of spots.
Soundtracks in the past Burnout games werent to amazing and this game is the exact same. Actually the soundtrack is pretty terrible. I should just mention that the dj is one of the most annoying people in the world. He is just gets in the way of the great audio the game has. It seems that Criterion is just trying to advertise these songs rather than put in good songs they like. I mean they put in Avril Levines Girlfriend. This song is terrible but why would they put it in a racing game. Other than the abysymol soundtrack the sound effects in the game are just really amazing. All of the car sounds are nice and intense. Everything from when the cars break to when they use boost just sounds very authentic to real cars.
Multiplayer this time around is good but not is not as strong as the single player. Their are Challenges co-op challenges to do but unless you have friends to play with then you could do these events but, if you dont then you might just never get these done. The problem is that you have to really communicate with other people to do these and its pretty hard to communicate with random people online. Competitave racing is pretty fun as it uses the sane structre as the single player. To jump into a multiplayer game you just open up a menu while in action. Its very semless and barely takes you out of the action which is really great.
You progress through the game with your Burnout lisense. First you will have a D lisense and then progress all the way to an ultimate Lisense. Progressing lisenses is pretty good as you will get better your lisense gets higher. Also you will get a new car with each higher lisense you get. Speaking of cars theirs about 75 in the game which is a pretty good number. Each of the cars are unique in look and all have different attributes which is nice in variety.
The gameplay is extremly well and responsive. Every action you do will respond well and driving is just plain fun. Going at high speeds while trying to dodge traffic is just a blast.
BIKES
A new update is available for Burnout called Burnout Bikes. Now I know you probably know that this update involves Bikes. The Bikes control amazingly great because they are very fast and control great like the cars. Their are 4 Bikes available and you start out with two. They dont use boost but they are fast enough that you dont need any. A very dissapointing aspect of the bikes is that you are not able to race bikes with each other yet. Burnout Routes and Midnight Rides are available but you cant race them with any other human or computer players. Still you can do online challenges with the bikes. Overall the Bikes are a great edition and what more could you ask for the price of zero dollars for this great update.
Burnout changes the formula and raises the bar for free roaming racing games. Every aspect is so seamless that you will just be focusing on the great action and reponsive controls. Even if you dont like racing games you should still give this game shot. Some games have tried this open ended design for racing but Butnout has finally perfected it.
