This is what happens when you put shadows, mirrors, and fate together.
Here's the gist, MoF has decent gameplay and if not a few awesome little moments here and there but the game sadly lacks spirit. Castlevania is a broken mirror of its former self and the previous handheld installments has cast a large shadow upon this game.
Castlevania's story has never been prime. It has always been putting a stake in Dracula's heart. The premise is simple but the combat and platforming are what makes this series fun. In MoF, the gameplay feels a lot like God of War. It's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, the actions are more fluid than before. The biggest culprit here is there's not much really to do. You're given this new mechanics but in MoF monsters are so few in between. It seems like the game focuses more on the scenery than the action part. But thankfully, boss fights breaks the dull monotony by bashing them monotonously. And QTEs.
Being able to play three generations of the Belmont class in one game is cool. And while all three shares the same move commands, each of them have unique skills that differentiate one from the other. Perhaps the coolest one is Alucard's ability to transform himself into mist to passby enemies. Each character's chapter is relatively short. The game is easy to challenge. Although, you unlock hardcore difficulty much later on.
As for extra content, you get a bestiary and cinematics. Getting a 100% completion will unlock a secret ending but in all honestly, there's not much left to spoil. It goes something like this: the castle crumbles. That's all folks. It kinda sucks.
Voice actors are bland and the lack of mouth animation makes it even worse. Visual presentation are decent.
There's not much too say anymore. This game lacks content. Mercury Steam's Castlevania lethargic presentation make it look like Dracula has sucked the franchise dry.
