When Earthbound meets Little King's Story, you get Citizens of Earth. An RPG in which the player inhabits the Vice President of Earth who has to recruit citizens that fight battles for him. The game was published by ATLUS.
Game looks pretty funny. I actually could leave the art style, but the nature of what you do as basically a politician/middle manager who collects other professions and demographics like they were fucking Pokemon is too interesting to ignore.
Any word if it is getting a Steam release? It says PC on the wiki, but I couldn't find it listed on Steam. Maybe it is too far out to be listed on the upcoming game list.
Yeah, its from some ex-Next Level (Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and the Punch-Out Wii game) developers, had a failed kickstarter, and got picked up by Atlus. I definitely like its charm and core concept, so I'm pretty keen on checking it out.
@brodehouse: For real, this game comes out in like two weeks and this is the first I've heard of it. Unique recruit-able characters with upgradable abilities... I'm down.
I really want to play this. I'm tempted to play this on my PC but I might wait until I get my *New* 3DS since I'll be craving games to play on it beyond Majora's Mask. Has anyone bought this yet?
Picked it up on PS4. The comparison to Earthbound/Pokemon is not unjustified. If you enjoy a pretty light-hearted RPG that isn't too deep, this may be up your alley. So far it hasn't seemed too difficult, though the Mascot character lets you tweak up the difficulty. There are a massive (40?) characters to unlock, you get swamped with recruit quests from the beginning, though mainly of them are not initially completable.
I enjoy it, Ill probably write a review when I finish it because I have gotten really lazy about writing reviews.
I don't know! I've been waiting for some reviews or a quick look from the Giant Bomb folks before making a decision on it. All I've seen as far as Steam user reviews are, "If you like Earthbound... blah blah blah."
