It better have controller support. I've got my wired 360 controller and dude I'm all set. LETS DO THIS. 60 frames in Blighttown with a higher resolution? AWESOME.
Dark Souls
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Sep 22, 2011
A quasi-sequel to From Software's action-RPG Demon's Souls, set in a new universe while retaining most of the basic gameplay and the high level of challenge. It features a less-linear world, a new checkpoint system in the form of bonfires, and the unique Humanity system.
Dark Souls : Prepare to Die Edition [PC]
Great news! I already have it on PS3, but my copy's still sealed. I guess that's not changing anytime soon then.
Oh jeez. I'm probably gonna pick this up, but a part of me is still scared as hell of playing this game.
I wonder if the new bosses with make it onto consoles as that rumored DLC that was talked about awhile ago.
Don't have a PC, so I'm hoping for DLC later on. And hopefully it doesn't break anything if it does.
I highly doubt that they would leave console gamers out in the cold.I wonder if the new bosses with make it onto consoles as that rumored DLC that was talked about awhile ago.

That would definitely be cool for you guys. And I really hope my first "real" experience with Dark Souls (played the game for a few minutes a while ago) isn't ruined by additional bosses. ;)Don't have a PC, so I'm hoping for DLC later on. And hopefully it doesn't break anything if it does.
WOOT! I already own this on PS3, but since my system died I guess I will buy this on PC so I can actually finish the game.
I already have it for PS3 and I'm buying it again. The best game this generation. Welcome PC players, can't wait to kick your asses in a couple of months!
To anyone still asking what is it about DaS I like so much, read this article and watch the following video:
It would be hilarious if they didn't include any kind of controller support. The real Dark Souls starts here.
If it has no obvious problems making it inferior to the console version in a serious way then I will totally pick it up again for PC. Maybe I could convince my buddy to buy it too. I doubt it but he only has a PC and I want everyone I know to play this game.
I'm definitely happy. I was playing it on my 360 and made it past Sen's Fortress, but then I got hit with a second RROD (no plans to get another 360). I should be able to make it quickly back to Anor Londo and continue from there. I just hope it is a good port though. Framerate was never great on the 360, and we've all seen how bad some PC ports are. Gamepad support would also be nice, but I could always use something like Xpadder if needed.
Uh lets hope they put the new bosses in a patch on the console versions because I am not paying for it again on pc. I still stand by what I said, without a gamepad it will play like crap, so it is good it will have support.
Based on what neogaf is saying one of the new bosses is Guyra, so at least they did that right.
Now that's interesting. I love Demon's Souls but just couldn't get into Dark Souls. The changes they made, in their online structure, really put me off this game. Aside from everyone here who seems to be jizzing in their pants I still would like to know a few more details.
Who's doing the PC version?
Is the game going to run better?
How's the online going to be handled? Specifically more how is it going to function between the different PC versions i.e. Steam and Hard copy.
Is it going to get the same amount of abysmal, patch wise, support that From are well known for?
How are they going to address the many cheaters in this game?
Shit.
This is a 100% day one buy (again). 60fps on this game might push it up on that 'Favorite Games Ever' list...that is, unless the port is shit.
Just remember, the first one of you guys to mod in quick saves or a mini map is never allowed to say "consolized" again.
Quick saves, map, quest log, and 50+ FPS would sweeten the deal for me. Maybe just quick saves and better FPS, the map and quest log might squelch the fun. But this game is brutal. It comes close to crossing the line between entertaining and grieving. There are times when I play that I swear it has crossed the line.

If they would allow you to save whenever you want it would ruin the whole game, imho. Dark Souls (and Demon's Souls, which I actually played) is all about the challenge, right? And by allowing you to save, the whole "having to collect your souls when you died" system would fall apart, one of the most important game mechanics wouldn't work anymore...there is no way they would allow that.@p00rdevil said:

This is awesome news for PC only people. I must say I'm a little surprised, didn't seem like FROM was interested in moving this to PC.

Yeah, the entire risk/reward system would be totally broken by the ability to quick save, and the risk/reward system is one of the key mechanics that makes a Souls game a Souls game.
...man I still haven't beaten Dark Souls, I really gotta get back into it.

I'll take 'em. I dunno about making the game way too easy. It would weed out all this repetitive gameplay, but you still have to beat the enemies. You just wouldn't have to redo all your work over and over. You would probably have to farm enemies and gather souls, but it would be on your terms instead of the game forcing you into it by sending you back to a bonfire every time you die. That crap gets old. I would be willing to bet the PC version will have a quick save option. If not by the devs then by the mod community.

Retrieving souls is not that critical to the game. There have been times I abandoned souls on the ground just because it was too much bother going back to get them. Also, there have been many more times when I died before reaching my dropped souls and lost them all anyway. I don't see how retrieving souls is a key gameplay element. How about this then; if playing with a quick save all souls are lost when you die. Gone for good, nothing to retrieve. Would that be hard core enough? Seems fair to me.

Why would changing that matter? With quicksaves you would never die anyway.
Yup, I guess he didn't think that through. If you would do it that way the game would have to punish you every time you load a save (by taking away your souls). The game would change dramatically with a quick save option, to a point where it is no longer the game that makes people hate and love it at the same time.@p00rdevil said:
