Dark Void Blasts Off Into Increasingly Crowded 2010
Well it looks like Morgan Gray's "one hat per game" rule is going to keep him rocking a newsie for at least a few more months. Capcom has announced a delay for the Airtight Games-developed Dark Void, pushing the game from its original September date to sometime in the first quarter of 2010.
Joystiq went ahead and got some clarity from Capcom's Chris Kramer, who cited things like "the crowded fall game season" as the reason for the delay. The game's developers will be taking the extra time to put further work into the game. I've been seeing versions of Dark Void here and there for the past year or so and have been looking forward to it for some time now, leaving me torn between the realms of "I'd really like to play this game" and "hey, it's cool that the team will get a bit more time to work on it."
But the larger issue, obviously, is that the fourth quarter of this year is starting to seem like a wasteland due to this constantly stream of delays. What's coming out this year that you're still looking forward to?

i am looking forward to Dragon Age, MW2, Demons Souls, and Starcraft if that doesnt get delayed. so ive still got enough to play
edit: and how could i possibly forget Borderlands
" This year you say? Ummm... Modern Warfare 2? That's probably about it... "Dude Dragon Age.
2010 will be one hell of a year but we still have a nice supply for the rest of 09. MW2, Halo 3: ODST, Brutal Legend, Alpha Protocol, L4D2, Borderlands, Dragon Age ect.
I am looking forward too Halo ODST, MW2, and Assassins Creed 2. Those are must gets for me, and there is a lot of other games I will have to wait for the price to go down or i would be broke such as Dirt 2, Need for Speed Shift ( a need for speed that actually looks good ?!?!?!?!). Beatles Rock Band, Brutal Legend, and Forza 3. AKA Should be a good time this fall and winter!!!!!!
Assassins Creed 2, Borderlands, MW2, Dragon Age, Bad Company 2, PES 2010, Alpha Protocol, Uncharted 2 and MAG.
Dude, Borderlands is still coming out this year...right? if not, 2009 is completely ruined. I can actually just "feel" that game slipping away.
MW2, Brutal Legend, AC2, and Forza 3 are all coming out this year, aren't they? I'm sure there is still a couple more I'm forgetting.
I don't mind to much that these games are getting delayed. Doesn't that just mean we'll have good games for a longer period of time rather than an ass load all at once like most years?
This year's looking pretty dull compared to what it was initially looking like.
But now we know that early 2010 is going to be full as fuck though.
Wolfenstein, Marvel vs. Alliance 2, Dragon Age, Borderlands, Forza Motorsport 3, MW2, L4D2, Assassin's Creed 2. Lots of stuff, actually.
There's still a ton of games coming out (for now):
- Assassin's Creed 2
- Dragon Age
- Brutal Legend
- Modern Warfare 2
- Scribblenauts
- Alpha Protocol
- Borderlands
'Wasteland' is a bit strong I think, you're gonna be plenty busy enough for sure. MW2 and AC2 would dominate regardless of competition, but I think the crowd thinning is great news for everybody else on that list - and definitely more manageable for those of us that like to play things whilst they're still fresh.
edit: Looking at the comments, I missed plenty of other big games too.
I'm looking forward to Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Ratchet and Clack: A Crack in Time, Brutal Legend, and Alpha Protocol. Q4 09 is not a wasteland Jeff, it's just not ridiculously jam packed like Q4 08. Most people didn't get to play more than half of the amazing games that came out in that period...
Brutal Legend, Scribblenauts, and MW2 are the three games I'm looking forward to for the rest of this year.
Okay so this year will be a little less than what we had all hoped, but next year...damn. Seriously next year will be great if all this stuff comes out and it won't be that typical one or two games Jan through June then nothing til October, if this stuff all goes as planned then maybe next year will be a little more even.
Alpha Protocol, Assassin's Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3: ODST, Dragon Age.
That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. I'm starting to think developers are delaying to 2010 though because they don't want to compete with the high profile games being released this fall.
- Borderlands [PC]
- Alpha Protocol [PC]
- Red Faction Guerrilla [PC]
- Batman: AA [PC]
- SCRIBBLENAUTS!!!! [DS]
- Brutal Legend [360]
- Borderlands [PC]
- Dragon Age: Origions [PC]
- LEFT FOR MOTHER FUCKING DEAD 2 !!!!!!!!! [PC]
I think I will be fine this winter. Who ever desided to push this game back is a very smart person. This game, as cool as it looks would definatly get lost under all the stuff coming out. They would have to spend ALOT of cash to get it noticed over everything coming out. Plus as anyone who has ever made a game can attest to, You can never have too much time to work on your game.
Everyone seems to be avoiding Modern Warfare 2 like the plague. Similar thing happened with Grand Theft Auto IV.
Thing is, with everyone avoiding Q4 like this, we're just going to see a "crowded" first half of 2010!
