The God of War team with their experience in designing some rather grotesque creatures might be suitable for the job.

Looking at that list I can't see any that would be able to recreate what they did. Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream would just completely miss the point, and the three others would not nail the gameplay.

Atlus, because they're the only other team I can think of that's done amazing demon designs, albeit different type of amazing.

@soldierg654342: I'd say MGR on revengeance is more difficult than any of the Soul's games to date. But a Souls game where you could cancel most of your animations would be great, even if it did betray the whole risk reward mentality the franchise was built on.

I significantly doubt that any developer who isn't From Software could successfully pull off a Souls game. That being said, I would be really interested in seeing what the hell Naughty Dog or Quantic Dream would do if making that style of game.

Quantic Dream so I could hear David Cage prattle on about how deep and emotional your journey through the land of the dead would be.

All those choices are bad, but Quantic Dream could be so bad it's good.

Quantic Dream might be the polar opposite of From Software when it comes to crafting a game. Subtlety is not David Cage's strong suit. I want their take on it anyway but I'm pretty sure fans would be terribly disappointed.

Somebody let Kojima make a Souls game.

None of these developers are a good fit for the franchise, but Santa Monica has showed promise with Journey, Unfinished Swan and God of War so I'd give it to them if I had to make a choice.

I'd rather get a new King's Field with Oculus Rift support.

It would be called Dark Souls because the previous publisher retained the rights to the Demon's Souls name. And the game would be awesome.

Why would I want anyone but From Software to develop a Demon's Souls sequel? This is nonsense. Also, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. Just saying.

@kerned: Because you're already getting a Dark Souls sequel and it would be interesting to see a different take from another developer. It wouldn't deprive you of anything. The question wasn't 'who would you have in From Software's place' and i'm aware some of these arent first party developers, but given their last few games have been published by Sony it isnt hard for them to loan one of their IP's to a developer who's already proven themselves on that platform.

Sure I'd like to see any of those developers make a 3rd person action RPG with interesting mechanics, but I don't see the need to call it Demon's Souls. All of those developers would probably come up with something more exciting if they just made new IP instead of trying to recreate a Souls game. But hey, I'm totally cool if Sony wants to hold their own Game Jam with internal studios with the title "Demon's Souls".

Why would you ask a western developer to make a very japanese game?

Honestly, I kind of can't think of anyone who would do it well. It takes a really specific kind of vision to make a game like this, and I don't think anyone else knows what it is or really wants to try.

Although there is something to be said about an Infinity Ward developed and Activision published Dark Souls game. Maybe you could quick scope with the bow?
