Its old. Really old. I was doing it as early as 2005. Which is when I got my drivers license. I always thought Gymkhana was an odd name but thats what we called it.
Its basically Autocross but for drifting. Basically you take a flat empty lot, like a parking lot. Set up a course made of cones where the cones represent the apexes of the corners. So you basically take however many cones you have and place them around randomly and the just freestyle drift around them. Or you number them and drift around them in order.

Gymkhana isn't new.
Drew knows who Ken Block is and what Gymkhana is, he clearly knew what it was when the codemasters guys came and did the QL EX. But we're all very impressed that you were obviously one of the progenitors of gymkhana before the mainstream ruined it, man.lol NAILED it duder!

Ryan thought Codemasters made the name up on the HH and Drew didn't seem to know the name.
Gymkhana as applied to motorsport is relatively new, however they stole it from the horsey event that has been around about a 100 years - back when India was a colony and the English took the name from the Urdu. Basically a horse obstical course, I think it is even in the Olympics. In fact I am sure Ryan played Gymkhana on the kinect for a QL - remember the whole "horse meet rider, rider meet horse" meme.

Which is exactly what it is. So I'd say he does know the name.
So again, to reiterate: Drew knows what Gymkhana is. Drew knows who Ken Block is.
Also, horsey?
So you were those chavs drifting in the cinema parking lots every saturday night. :oBingo! We have a winner. Im glad someone else posted this because I wouldn't feel right using that word and not being European :P
I stand by what I said. On the HH (which was shot before the QL) he didn't know WTF it was. Likely he googled it afterwards. Good for him, the willingness to learn is an excellent character trait.@alternate said:

Apologies, I haven't seen the HH in question. I imagine he must have had to have thumbed through dusty tomes and various ancients texts in a temperature and humidity controlled room whilst wearing gloves to learn about something that goes as far back as 2005.
When they said it's new, weren't they mainly saying that about how it's new to the games?Yeah this is what everyone bar pioneers of parking lot drifting assumed.

I wish they made more historical films set in 2005.
