Honestly, I can't blame them. They needed at least the positive impressions and word of mouth at this point, because it was becoming very hard to have any faith in the project with all the rumors of Id basically being on fire. I'm okay with waiting, as long as this doesn't become a Duke Nukem situation. I don't want to become that dude who saved his DNF preorder for like a decade.
Though I am well on my way to becoming that.
@bigjeffrey: Damn, for some reason I figured trailer reveal at Gamescom and beta later in the year.
Welp, those Quakecon attendees missed their chance to be internet heroes with a crappy cell phone video.
aw shit Romero back
Nope.
What if this game isn't good?
Quiet, you!
I don't know why I'm so excited to see more of this, because I never had that much affection for Doom as a kid, but there's just something really confidence-inspiring about the details we know so far.
Romero is at ID software
I met him at QuakeCon later in the day. Extremely nice guy.
Also, Doom looks a LOT better than I expected it to, and we saw more of it than I anticipated. I thought we'd see maybe a minute of pre-rendered footage and then hear about how development is going, but they showed a lot of gameplay. Still, I understand why they're not going big with the reveal yet. They're clearly very passionate about it and want time to make sure it's perfect when they show it to the world.
@viciousbearmauling: Are you kidding? Duke Nukem was SOOOOO good right? This couldn't possibly fail to live up to the unmanageable expectations of the fans of a company struggling to stay above water. No way. You're nuts.
You're right.
As keeper of the Bonus Round, they posted an episode talking about new Doom and the series in depth.
Geoff Keighley, cool guy Andrew Reiner, Pete Hines from Bethesda, and... Adam Sessler?
So they'll post an episode every Sunday for the next 3 Sundays. Bonus Round usually gets outdated quickly, but Doom will always be relevant.
Sessler gotta eat
What if this game isn't good?
I would be worried about punkxblaze's mental state.

I don't know if I can handle having my heart broken like that.
Just yesterday I realized Doom 3 is already ten years old. Suppose that's a hefty amount of time to wait for a sequel. Good thing I haven't been waiting near ten years for a third entry to a series I'm a fan of...oh...
Dude, I feel ya. Half Life 3 is also something that haunts my yearning dreams.
please stop doing this to yourself omg
HA
So what I understand is that at this point @punkxblaze dies for our sins
In all honesty though does anyone think the world needs a new Doom game? I meaaan its just a name slapped onto a game at this point, I doubt any of the gameplay that made Doom 'Doom' would carry over at this point and 3 wasn't very good. Also what have iD software done recently other than appear to be a company in dire straights? It's not like Valve with Half Life 3 because they basically haven't released a game that hasn't been a massive hit. Obviously I'll reserve judgement until I see the thing but I just don't understand how Doom 4 is this illusive thing that people are dying to see.
@yesiamaduck: No one thought we needed a new Wolfenstein, and yet Machinegames made a very well received entry to the series. You should read the impressions people who saw it at Quakecon, apparently they're returning to the roots of the original Doom games and forget Doom 3 ever happened.
If anything, Doom 3 was not a Doom game really and I think from the sounds of it this sounds more like what I'd be looking for. Isn't this supposed to be fast paced and crazy like the original two games? I'm optimistic.
@punkxblaze: Get Hype
@bigjeffrey: 10 seconds of RAW. DOOM. ACTION!
I like the logo treatment.

I like the logo treatment.
The logo and PEGI stuff used up like 7 out of those 10 seconds though. :)

It really lives up to being a teaser trailer.
*Crosses fingers and hopes for massive delays and vague reports of cancellation*
I love this thread too much to watch it die.
E3:
Announcer: "From id Software, please welcome John Carmack!"
Carmack: "Hello everyone, pleasure to be here. I'm excited to show you the first public gameplay reveal of Doom today."
*cut to clip of player collecting some armor*
Carmack: "Thank you, and enjoy the rest of E3."
Carmack doesn't even work at id anymore.
@bigjeffrey: stop ruining my fanfiction
