Well put.uhuh and not because it's a mediocre game they were just expecting CoD Duke style (GIVE ME A BREAK)
Duke Nukem Forever
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Jun 14, 2011
After approximately fourteen years of development, the heavily infamous sequel to Duke Nukem 3D was finally released, in which the macho Duke must damper yet another alien invasion.
Ign review 5.5
Love all the people who feel compelled to buy it, because it's some part of 'gaming history'. I'd rather spend my money on a more worthy title and not be disappointed when I realise that I spent $60 on a 10 year old game.
At least wait for it to go down in price before wasting your money on it.
Anyone ever seen this amazing review

Nice to see Gearbox has wasted their time with this. Now maybe they can work on Borderlands 2
Exactly, but saw that coming. I guess there's some consolation though that Gearbox will make the most money ever off a poorly reviewed game. But please, Gearbox get back on some Borderlands 2. All their dabbling of late is really starting to worry.
Haven't played too much myself but I'm enjoying it plenty.
It's pretty rough around the edges, but it's more Duke which for me is enough for now. At this point it's just kinda neat that DNF is out and this will probably do well enough just playing off nostalgia.
Hopefully well enough to warrant a more polished Duke Nukem experience in the hopefully not too distant future.
Not going to read the review, but 5.5 seems about right really. Never expected the game to do great critically.
I am actually more interested in the reactions than the actual game. So far, it's the most decisive split I've seen since Doom 3 - which was also either reviled or embraced for being dowdy.
I've been playing the PC version of this game and it is terrible. The PC version on 'Ultra' settings has blurry textures that indicate this is a console port. The 2 weapon limit is another clue that this game was designed for consoles. DNF is more linear than FF13. The gameplay mostly involves getting locked into rooms until you kill several waves of enemies.
It's not a console port, actually the console versions were done within the last year or so. It's just that these textures are probably 10 years old at least.
To be honest, I won't spend money on shit, not even if it's Duke. As far as IGn being a shit site, Idn, lots of sites,...ahem, have some personalities working them. And I am tired of the 'review is just somebodies opinion' tight ass little one line sphincter-clincher. Reviews affect how ppl. want to spend their hard earned money, pure and simple. Now I'm getting Duke Nukem Forever, but then I am spending 30.00 instead of fifty( Amazon and Pc baby). But I am very curious how that Alice game is doing. Of course if I really wasn't guided by reviews, I could just close my eyes and open my pocket book. But iff'n I was going to do that, there is that children's charity..
It would make me happy if Jeff enjoys it too, but I can see him giving it 2 also.
I'm probably going to play through the game a second time as well. I only ever died on boss battles going through on normal difficulty. I might jump straight to insane or whatever it's called. Duke is everything I wanted it to be. There were so many moments in the game that made me chuckle or smile and I really appreciated that. After seeing this offering I can say that I really hope they decide to make another Duke game in the very near future. On a scale of "enjoyed it" to "didn't enjoy it" I give DNF a resounding "enjoyed it." Screw numbers and stars.
Side note: What exactly did Gearbox add to the development of the game? After you beat it you unlock concept art and old trailers and the game looks relatively unchanged from the Triptych promotional trailer. I think the timeline (another thing you unlock) even said Triptych had the singleplayer content locked quite some time ago. Anyway, just curious if anyone happens to know.
I think I might just buy Duke Nukem 3D and play that instead, since I've never played it before.

"Duke has not aged well. As simple as he ever was, as irrelevant as he's ever been."I think they meant to say irreverent.
I think he kinda was relevant... very relevant. Did I misunderstood them?

@UKSamwise: I really love this game, I'm even planning on a second playthrough. It's probably my favorite FPS of the year so far, but even I would not give it more than 3 stars. It would make me happy if Jeff enjoys it too, but I can see him giving it 2 also.
You dont play much FPSs I assume.

@Otrebor: Yes I do but there have been only mediocre ones this year. Brink, Bulletstorm? C'mon, Duke is more bad ass than these
I'll admit that Dukes personality entertains me but they needed to make a good game around that. Bulletstorm, Crysis 2 and even Killzone 3, all released this year, are leagues better than DNF. Cannot talk about Brink though, did not play that.
