Once you play with the engine upgrades in Skyrim it would probably be harder to go back.  And $5?  That's a steal, NV is great.

    Here's my plan for you.

Step 1: Buy New Vegas for $5. It's a fantastic game, better than Fallout 3 regardless of what the dipshits on this message board say.

Step 2: It's not perfect, though, so mod the everliving SHIT out of New Vegas.

Step 3: Take your time beating NV until after the mod tools for Skyrim are released.

Step 4: Hopefully there will be plenty of mods ready at this point, so go ahead and mod the FUCK out of Skyrim.

Step 5: Lean back in your chair and congratulate yourself on being a smart motherfucker.

Yes you should. I like NV but Skyrim is so much better.

I just finished Lonesome Road, the last of the DLC. NV is pretty damn good.

Both are awesome and worth your time. Fallout 3 is so blah though looking back. Oblivion was better than Fallout 3.

Oh my god. New Vegas was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. I've played that game for 60 hours and remember jack shit from it.

EDIT: lol posted in this thread twice by accident. What a terrible game New Vegas is though-- more like the fallout series in general though.

Just get Skyrim. If you've played Fallout 3 recently the combat will get pretty old, and I think Skyrim is better than New Vegas anyway.

New Vegas is awful with a terrible setting imo (flame guard activate). Go with Skyrim.

You know, I think I actually enjoyed New Vegas more than Skyrim. Obsidian tells much better stories and is exceptional at creating compelling characters and dialogue.

a bit to late but oh well: NV is worth it at that price also, when the complete NV collection hits bethesda might be stupid and charge full price....

    New vegas:

    -bugs

    -drab ugly game world

-ugly game engine, ugly npc's, ugly animations

    -dated graphics

    -good everything else

    Skyrim:

    -bugs

    -beautiful game world and dungeons

-much prettier npc's, better animations, similar but upgraded game engine

-good graphics, superb graphical style/weather & particle effects

-exploring this game world is a treat

    -bad everything else

Hope this sums up the 2 games for you :D
