As for me in the first 4 days from buying it i put in 16 or so hours and i am loving it, i am now up to about 23 hours i didnt play for a few days because of work and school, so the first night b4 my day of i started at 11pm and finished at 5am :P
Fallout: New Vegas
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Oct 19, 2010
The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
So how is everyone finding Fallout: NV
im 38 hours into it now, Usually a game with this many bugs i would have stopped playing 15 min into it, but i cant put it down. No one should miss this game. i mean, 38 hours of enjoyment is a lot to ask of a video game these days. And i'm already planning my second play thru.
is it a game of the year contender? Maybe. Should it win game of the year? I dont think so. Fallout:NV is a great game, boxed inside the worst engine to play a game with. Crappy textures, poor lighting, bugs and glitches around every corner, across all platforms. Someone need to show obsidian how to model human faces, and how to properly animate them as well. Has anyone else tried playing this game in third person view? lol what a joke that is, even in first person view i feel more like a hovering camera with arms then i do a physical human being. I think obsidian could benefit this game by taking a few cues from another game like Mass effect 2.
I found it cool, nice solid game, though I don't feel as pulled in by it as I was in F3, since your character comes with a story of his own already, unlike in F3 where you start as a baby.
I really can't stop playing and thinking about it when i'm not.
I think for me (this sounds really morbid but i'm not like that) i've always been interested in what would happen after the collapse of society and since i've been little i've fantasised about having a game where you can roam about freely and act how you chose. Fallout marries these two things perfectly so I suppose it would always please me. However the characters and the stories woven into FNV are great so far - The battle between the factions, the couriers story and just the thought of all the little towns, vaults etc out there to find.
I'm 72 hours in. I love it, but my point-of-view is biased, I loved Fallout 3 and Oblivion as well. The game bugs really, REALLY hurt this game though, and for others whom are new to the franchise, it's going to be a big obstacle. I have found that I can improve a session of playing by clearing out the cache on my 360 before I start, then when it starts re-patch it. I have to do this EVERY time to ensure the load times are more brief and the game doesn't hang up, or crash. I have a new model 360 as well, it's absurd I have to do this whole procedure.
The writing, the characters, the voice acting, and the art assets make this game what it is. It's incredible. But it's sort of criminal that they released this game with all the technical issues. On many, many credible gaming sites, this game will not get a 5 star rating simply because of that, and I can't help but feel that it's unfair to all that work to make this game what it is. Seems like maybe another couple months of debugging would have been a smart idea.
Enjoying it the same way Vinny is. using the 'console' to tweak my game experience, same way I did Fallout 3. I'm really enjoying it.
About 14 hours in, and really liking it. Just ran into Veronica, and she's fantastic! Finally got rid of my Amazon.com preorder armor replacing it with full Recon armor when I got to the Gun Runner store outside New Vegas, and I finally got a permanent home in Novac. Yesterday was a good day.
It's great, loving all the important parts about it. Most of the writing and voice acting is outstanding, and I love how many quests I have in my log right now. Lots of care went into creating the fiction. VATS is still a fun way to kill dudes.
The bugs aren't bothering me so much as the engine itself, it's just too limited and busted for some of the stuff they're trying to convey. Like when you hit up a club at one of the casinos meant to be "the most happenin', crazy place in New Vegas!" and it's a huge room with 3 NPC's standing still, and once in a while a "Ring-a-ding-ding" loop gets played. I literally laughed out loud when I got there. Or the usual get someone out of bed in full clothes and ask them to buy stuff. I lose my companions all the time, they're pretty useless. Load times are starting to get brutal. But still, great game that's well worth the $60 if you can look past that stuff.
Its alright. I enjoyed cleaning out Silver Rush and I enjoyed taking Mr. House out of his little casket. I wish they had more material for Mr. New Vegas. I kind of have issues witht he interface. If they gave me the option of a PC style UI I wouldn't have to clunk through a million menus and that'd be nice.
I never played the originals so the Rep system really just kind of gets in the way for me. I'd rather not mosey along doing a mission only to find out it somehow fucks over another faction and I fail a quest for them when I had no real intention of that. Otherwise I'm enjoying it about as much as FO3.

you get a little more back story on him from random computer stations around the game.. but yes.. it does seem a bit light.
the interface is one of the reason i went and played using a 360 controller.. menues killed me. Well.. that and.. i get to play it from the sofa.. if a game supports the controller (and it isn't multilpayer) i will normally try for sofa action... it doesn't always work out. ^_^
It's great at the moment, about 20 hours into it. I do however wish that you could earn a perk every level instead of every 2 levels. As such I feel I progressed better in Fallout 3 given the same 20 hours. Other than that I'm enjoying New Vegas and do hope any DLC coming will increase the level 20 cap to 30 and maybe bring back the Enclave (they were always a goof source of plasma rifles and MF cells)
I think this is easily going to be my Game of the Year. Usually if there's glitches or bugs, then I don't mess with the game until it's fixed. But, for some reason I can't stop playing it. I'm right now on the side mission with Cass and she wants me to get clues on what happened to the caravans. Well, turns out I messed up sort of. So now I have to beef my character up more to finish this mission up the hard way.

I missed my chance on letting the guy in with the gun so he can go postal.

Loving the companions though.
i do agree the bugs are really annoying sometimes.....but thats what makes fallout 3, oblivion etc... lol.
Theses game are probably the only games i still actually play with the bugs that they have and the graphics and game play are pretty good considering how big the game is and how much stuff is actually going on to run the game
I had no intention of buying it since I put waay to much time into Fallout 3 and all that DLC, saw a day one sale for 30$, bought it, love it and it now one of my favorite games of 2010. Im a good 17 hours in.
I really enjoyed it. I was at about 50 hours when I beat it and it locked up on me, for the 360, about 10 times.

I've played about 30 hours, and beat the game once. I started up a second play through with Hardcore mode and the Wild Wasteland Trait on.
Only got past the tutorial though, because the day after, Rock Band 3 and RDR's Undead Nightmare came out. I also got Mafia 2 and Metro 2033 from Gamefly. So a lot of things to play.
I've played for about 22 hours now and I haven't even made it to the strip yet. Just wondering around the huge world and loving every second of it. None of the major bugs have hit me, and the game has crashed only once, although the load times are occasionally a bit long. Nothing I can't handle though.
New Vegas is definitely better than Fallout 3 in my opinion. The characters are way more interesting, and the quests are mostly fun. Also, I really like the hardcore mode, and I don't know if I can play the game with that turned off anymore. As many people have said, the music is great too. I don't really listen to the radio in the game because the "ambient" music is giving away such Fallout 1/2 vibes I can't resist it.
To top it all off, Boone is in it. SPOTTED. Dead. Sweet.
" @Cold_Wolven said:I think the level cap is really annoying but anothing reason why i have on PC is because you can put in a code: setgs iMaxCharacterLevel 100, and that raises the cap to 100 or whatever cap you want that is the only cheat i use and have ever used in F3 and well i havnt needed to in FNW yet but im geting close. and i think that it is a completely legit cheat to use :D" It's great at the moment, about 20 hours into it. Also I feel it's worth noting that if you steal the Van Graff armor from the box outside the store, it gets stuck to your inventory and you cannot remove it. Tho it seems to be weightless, so it's kinda blessing and a curse.
That engine is seriously flawed, the animations are junk. It feels like im playing a 5 year old game, but boy is it a good one :)
" @ryanwho said:Eventually Silver Rush will give you a mission where you bring Cass to them, and when you do, they'll wanna kill her. So you just kill them instead. I used a powerglove and some grenades and kind of just waited for them to pop into the bathroom. Pulse weapons have shit aim and slow load so its easy to just pummel them to death. Meanwhile, taking out Legion HQ was a bitch cus I didn't wait for a specific mission on taking them out. And all those dudes punch the shit out of you." Its alright. " @ch13696: Cleaning Silver Rush is pretty damn easy with one trick, you can pick up and carry (push right stick on 360) every single item on display to their toilet and nick them as the guards can't see you there. If you can use energy weapons, you can just fortify to the toilet corridor and toss plasma 'nades if you wanna clean out the place for real then. Didn't bother myself, being a Gun user, but I made a pretty damn good money. Also I feel it's worth noting that if you steal the Van Graff armor from the box outside the store, it gets stuck to your inventory and you cannot remove it. Tho it seems to be weightless, so it's kinda blessing and a curse. "I managed to get past it. When I started that mission where they wanted to kill Cass, I refused. Quickly ran to the toilets and started drinking away to refill my HP. For some reason they were just too stupid to run in there. Before then I managed to lure a bunch of the guards outside and killed them.
I feel good about that. Now I'm at level 23 with a shit ton of weapons, killing my way through the Legion camp with Boone. That dude has some serious hatred towards those people.
" @Catfish666 said:Going in there with Boone is weird. Because even if you're there for the talk with Ceasar after you get the mark, the odd Legion member will start attacking you if Boone is around. Like, when I went into Mr. House's bunker, one dude was just standing there passively (cus he's quest related) and since Boone just got his guns back he went ahead and killed the other 2 Legions. Also, the guard at Ceasar's tent seems to respawn and he attacked every time Boone was nearby. At some point you're like "the game is telling me something huh" so then you discover where they keep your guns and shit at the gate and go ahead and kill everything." @ch13696: Cleaning Silver Rush is pretty damn easy with one trick, you can pick up and carry (push right stick on 360) every single item on display to their toilet and nick them as the guards can't see you there. Superb game throughout, very detailed world with an amazing amount of hooks into the original Fallouts
Endgame section felt weak to me however, not enough enemies :P
But this might be due to being so OP, I think I will also replay it and not use the Speech options just so that I can fight the bosses.
I just felt unappreciated after bringing in several thousand rounds of 5mm AP ammo for my minigun :(
So far my biggest grief with the came is the McCarran Spy mission, which is bugged for me atm and am unable to complete it in a good way :-/
Aesthetically I like Liberty Prime and think he is a cool dude.
But gameplay wise I hated it when he just killed everyone in the way and you were just tagging along picking your nose.
" @ch13696 said:You see, before I tried going in there and killing everyone, I told Boone to stay behind. When I got to the camp, they confiscated everything I have (except for my meds, because I'm such a bad ass at talking people into things). Hell, they even confiscated my Platinum Chip. I'm thinking about just shooting up the Gun Runners place and taking all their weapons so I can gun my way through the Legion Camp. I tried three times already with what I have and it's no good." @Catfish666 said:Going in there with Boone is weird.
